“Good Facilities but a little isolated.”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

Stayed here with my wife and some friends in August 2014. We stayed with Go Camping and had a 2 bedroom static caravan. The park has plenty of facilities, 3 pools, 3 restaurant areas, 2 bars, games area and supermarket. It's 10km south of San Vincezo which has some bars and plenty of Restaurants and about the same distance from Piombino where you can get a ferry to Elba, which is well worth a trip. We had a hire car which was well worth it.

I'd avoid Gold Car who tried to levy some VERY heavy add ons to the price when we went to pick the car up, in the end I had 2000 Euro block on my credit card until the end of the hire, as opposed to paying there 80 euro additional charge.

If travelling to San Vincenzo for an evening, the park runs a comp bus every half hour from 7-12. If staying later, sort out travel arrangements early as we couldn't get a taxi back and had to WALK. Not fun!

Park Albatros is a truly fantastic site. Great pools, very good facilities and helpful staff. We travelled with Roan and stayed in a Lodge Tent - both of which I can highly recommend. The tent was virtually new and really well equipped. The Roan staff were helpful and attentive. The site is spectacular with fantastic pools (though bigger slides would be a bonus) and really first class facilities for those camping. The pitches for the tents and mobiles are well set and reasonably private. It is a very large site and some noise can be heard - but they sensibly put the night entertainment well way from the pitches. We actually prefer a little 'life' on the site so some noise doesn't bother us. Most entertainment and the service provided by the animation team was good and the animation team were relentlessly enthusiastic (but in a good way). The food on site was pretty good and not that expensive. The beaches nearby are ok and we especially liked the scenic cove at Baratti around 10 minutes away by car. There is a large supermarket in Venturina that I would recommend and others in San Vincenzo. Trips to Pisa and Florence are easy (by car - 1hr and 2hrs respectively and the same by train from San Vincenzo - an easier option).

The only negatives were the slightly overly-priced supermarket (but aren't they all on campsites?) which nonetheless was very well stocked and very well used, the relatively slow bar service (a queuing system... with one person on till and one pouring the order... really? really? it was like being in a small student bar in the 80s...) ... but these are just gripes. The big problem was mosquitos. The site is near standing water - between it and the main sea road from San Vincenzo. I normally get bitten when camping anyway but this time my whole family were bitten many many times. Not everyone on the site was effected but some families and individuals really struggled - some staying in their mobiles in the evenings when it was worst. The shop sells countless citronella candles... they should buy shares... The campsite did apologise for the 'infestation' (their words) and sprayed once to try and reduce the problem - with some effect. But more should have been done. This is a shame as the site is so good and so well set up... regular spraying and maybe some work on reducing the standing water near the site would make a massive difference. It is possible that the mosquito issue was unusually bad... but others have mentioned it in their reviews... so it must crop up periodically...

I don't want the mosquito issue to put people off per se... it is a fantastic site after all... and all things considered we had an excellent holiday at Park Albatros.

Super facilities on site. Huge camp site but with a small feel. Pool complex top class. Bike hire well priced. Perfect location for Florence and Pisa. Only small negatives, nearest beach not great and not a huge amount for teenagers.

We stayed here last year in a Happy Camp caravan. The campsite is great for kids; great swimming pools and the older kids sometimes go to the beach in the evening or hang out in the wifi zone. It is clean and well organized, just very big although you don't really notice that. We stayed at the far end of the campsite and it was nice and quiet. A long walk to the pool though but we rented bicycles on the campsite and that worked out just fine.
However..
We rented a mobile home from Happy Camp and when you arrive after a long day, they don't tell you that the air conditioning only works with a key that they have. So you can walk all the way back to get it. They also asked about 95,- for sheets but that only costs about 32,- when rented directly from the campsite (which we did luckily). The worst was at departure, we found out we had to clean the mobile home ourselves, which we did. Then an extremely moody English woman came and commented on basically everything we had done, nothing was good. She told us to clean it again and that she would come back after 1,5 hours! I told her to come back in 10 minutes since in my opinion we only had to clean the glass door (which we indeed forgot). Of course she found more that was not good and that she subtracted 30,- from our deposit! When I said I would have accepted the mobile home like this she finally agreed to give us all our deposit back.
It seems like a scam to have you do all the cleaning AND take your deposit!!

At a different campsite this year we happily paid 30,- and they cleaned the mobile home for us. It is not about the money but the way we were treated by this elderly English couple. Not so Happy Camp!!

Family of 5 - kids 13,11,6. Stayed in July '14 with Eurocamp.
Great mobile - amazingly exactly like the video on Eurocamp website. Clean modern big.

HUGE park. But no worries never felt cramped. Great thing to do hire a bike - great selection, kids have freedom. Think 'twas €25 for a week.
5 wonderful pools. Plenty of active lifeguards. Spoilt for choice. 6year was in different pool every day, older 2 loved Olympic pool.
Facilities great-
• Supermarket big, clean & well stocked. BUSY can be large queue esp after siesta. Bakery good - ticket system, remember to take a ticket!
• Gelato brill & I think fairly priced.
• Bar @ poolside great, lovely food & more icecream. In main square, outside, big & again great staff.
• Restaurants - 2 main ones. Fab takeaway (lovely Big pizzas).
• bazaar on site - for gifts, towels, toys etc.
• laundry facilities clean €4 per wash.
• little train to bring you around site. Great play area. Wonderful local craft peoples hold market twice a week.

Really had a wonderful holiday. Car hire recommended. Saw Florence & Pisa in day trips. Also some lovely towns nearby.

My only negative!! Would be super awesome if there were some big slides!

Great holiday, Wonderful memories. LOVE to go back.

What a fantastic site! We stayed with Canvas for a week near the centre in a 3 bedroomed home and weren't bitten until the last day however as having previously stayed at Baia Domizia for a week ( not a patch on this site!) we were already bitten to death on arrival!
Arrival was smooth and stress free, home was central to everything and clean and staff were friendly!
Loads to do on site, fantastic entertainment on guitar each night in bar area ( wed and Thurs guy was fab!!)for teens/adults and arena near pool has childrens entertainment and foam parties.
Pools are clean and no hats ensures that image conscious teens can enjoy them! You do have to get up early to get a lounger in July/Aug but this wasn't a problem for us, pools can be saved with towels which is always slightly irritating but good if you want to nip home for breakfast or lunch.
Both restaurants visited were fab value with all you can eat being a big hit with teens! We visited twice in Italian night but they also do international and fish. All food is cooked freshly in front if you and you can pick up some fab tips! Staff were very friendly!
Pisa is an hour away and an easy drive if by car- we parked in a garage across from market near tower for 3 euros all day!
Camp arranged for my ten year olds horse riding at a ranch nearby, get clear instructions if you go as it was quite tricky to find but she loved it with an hours trecking in the Tuscan hills.
Jungle run is fab an reasonable at 9 euros for one and 15 for 2 above play park - lots cheaper than centreparcs and much better!
Markets seemed to arrive every other night which was fab as we didn't have to leave, prices were reasonable and youngest lived the hair braiding team and friendly henna tattooist.
Supermarket was reasonable enough and loved the idea of locals coming in to sell their wine and local produce- Tesco should do this!!
A fantastic site wish we had stayed for the whole 2 weeks instead of splitting it with Baia!
Would recommend !!

Great camping. We stayed with our family of 4 (me, wife and 2 girls aged 6 and 5) in a Selectcamp 3 bed chalet. The chalet was what you may expect, functional, complete yet somewhat small if you are 6'4". Airco failed on arrival but got fixed fairly fast. Personel at the camping was friendly and the whole location feals save, clean and well managed. The restaurant is good, with tasty food, timely service and English/Dutch speaking staff. The Elitekids children's entertainment was good, although our kids only used it twice (sorry, the poolside one the competition). As said the pools were great. Although there is a considerably large amount of guests at the camping there are sufficient sunbeds / chairs available most of the time. It might take a minute or so to gather enough for the whole family but it will work out. The pools were excellent for the kids. The soft liner in the pools prevented the kids falling and the slides have been well used. Although the water is full it never was overcrowded. The children's playground was great, especially since mom and dad could sit at the co-located "Piazza Italia" and enjoy a coffee and/or cocktail whilst listening to good life music. We had a great time and for sure will consider visiting Park Albatross again.
