Ate here one evening during a recent holiday at the excellent hotel next door (Savarese). We booked for a Saturday evening meal (40th wedding anniv.!) & chose 8pm when asked for a time by the polite staff on the desk.
The starter was very good, & there was a salad buffet which was a bonus, but the other courses were rather disappointing. Perhaps the over-riding feeling was of having stumbled into someone else's party. Since we seemed to be the only outside diners we found ourselves, having entered a full dining room, with the waiters struggling to cope, finishing our meal in splendid isolation, save for waiters clearing & relaying tables - the resulting atmosphere was not what we had hoped for. Perhaps our experience highlights the difficulty of booking a meal at a hotel rather than a restaurant.More
