Excellent location, lovely staff, room had a balcony. 1 minute from a swim in the sea, 15/20 minute walk into centre of Sorrento. 5 minute walk to local train station to go to Pompeii/Naples. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Pool was lovely, as was the roof top to sunbathe!

You cannot fault this very pleasant 4 star hotel.Stayed on half board and really enjoyed the food. The pool area is pleasant , though small, and thankfully they do not allow the placing of towels to reserve sunbeds. If you're not too bothered about the pool there are two more excellent sunbathing areas on the roof with showers and fabulous views of Versuvius and the bay of Naples.
If you're a sea person it is a short walk to the nearest bathing platform which you reach by lift or long windy path in the cliff''s interior-not for the faint hearted. This platform has all amenities, restaurant, toilets etc. and friendly staff who will place the sunbeds to your liking.
There is a local train station(not the one in Sorrento which is much further away)where you can catch the train for Pompeii and/or Herculaneum both of which I heartily reccomend. But make sure you rent the audio guides at these location so that you get the best out of your visit.
Liked best : Sunbathing on the roof, piano bar and front garden for drinks served by the excellent bar staff.
Disliked most ; Long trek into Sorrento and back.( I'm a keen walker but this is an arduous half hour march often with no pavements). Taxi fare was about 18 Euros.
Also only two small but nice bars in the local square for evening drinks. If evening nightlife is high on your priority list you really need a hotel much closer to the centre as this is in a pleasant but distant suburb.
Finally my stay was in July 2008 but the site access doesn't go back that far.

I really enjoyed staying in Hotel Caravel, all the staff were very friendly and efficient, especially Marieangela on reception and Luigi in the restaurant. There was a very relaxing atmosphere in the hotel and everything you would need to have a great holiday.

After a short walk from the train station we turned into a winding lane, passing pizzarias and cafes, where we found Hotel Caravel. We were pleasantly suprised with the friendly and accomodating staff. Our room looked over the beautiful front entrance and the very clean sparkling blue pool.It was large, nice decor, and the bathroom was roomy. They have a courtesy bus which will take you to the museum close to the town of Sorrento.
A highlight for us was the "help yourself " breakfast in the dining room which was included in the price. Fruits, cereals, pastries, danishes, breads&spreads and the BEST BACON & EGGS were on offer! YUMMO.
Ideally positioned to discover this part of Italy we had a day trip by train to Pompeii, A night & day spent discovering Sorrento, a morning in Herculium and caught a bus to Positano. We moved onto Amalfi by bus after we left. Thankyou so much Hotel Caravel, so lucky to have found you and would reccommend you accomodation to anyone!

Quite a beautiful, busy hotel located in a quiet and very pretty street, 15 minutes walk from the train station, and 5 minutes walk to the beach cliff tops. We travelled in September, and Sant'Agnello is magic at this time of year.

The hotel is large and clean. The room was large (King bed, desk, couch and lounge chair) and bright and clean and the décor was contemporary (renovated last couple of years?). The room had a large balcony with a wonderful view to the mountains and bit of the sea. The bathroom was spacious, clean and recently renovated. The bed was comfortable.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was good - juices, cerials, fresh fruits, breads & pastries, cold meats, hot food etc,, and the staff were helpful in finding soya milk for me. The hotel has a restaurant, but we didn’t get around to eating at the restaurant.

When we stayed, the hotel seemed to be full of mainly English tourists.

We travelled with a tour party and although the hotel was catering for around 100 - 150 guests there was always someone there to help and advise. Our room was beautifully laid out, and the balcony large enough to sit on and enjoy a view of the pool. Sea view was accurate although a little distant! Wonderful views of the bays and Vesuvius from the sun roof.
The food was good, some evenings very good, but not of top restaurent standard, however considering the number of guests on tours that is to be expected. Breakfasts were excellent but PLEASE can someone explain to the Italians that tea needs boiling water!!
Overall a spotless hotel with impeccable service that I would recommend to anyone.
