“Honeymoon Heaven!”
Reviewed 17 May 2014 via mobile

We spent a wonderful week here in late April. Staff were all fabulous, making us feel special, pampered and 'looked after'. They also went out of their way to give us full information to make our stay fantastic. All aspects of accommodation were super, although twin beds pushed together wasn't great.

Le Couples dining was a fabulous experience. Splendid food and splendid service. Breakfast each morning was perfect.

Location just outside was of main town really worked for us. The walk in to town was a good way to work off the morning pastries and shuttle buses ran after and late in the evening.

Wifi a bit 'hit and miss', but that aside, great value for money. We will return!

A small group of us stayed for a week at the beginning of May. The food was awful and we found that other parties had different menus. We were expected to order the night before for the following evening and if we wanted an omelet or pancakes for breakfast we had to pay extra. This hotel is not five star and we would not go back. It is too far out of Sorrento and is up a dangerous road so not suitable for walking. Most of the group were kept awake by dogs barking during the night so be warned.

We stayed here with our family in April 2014. This hotel is very lavish & could be very nice. The staff are very friendly & it's kept very clean. BUT, there are a few things that really weren't good. To start with, the king size beds should NOT be just two singles pushed together. The walls are very thin, you can hear everything going on in the other rooms! Talking, early alarms, chairs moving on the hard floors, people getting in late, etc. It's also not in a great area, it's a long way from the town centre, although they do offer a free shuttle (once an hour!). We did not sleep a lot during our stay at this hotel, mainly due to all of the above & the constant barking of local dogs! The pool also wasn't open for the first half of our stay, then it was just too cold. We had no view at all, just some tall trees right outside.

Room Tip: Do don't accept a room on the ground floor behind the reception,

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of April. The hotels communal areas are very grand looking indeed. The staff go out of their way to help and are very welcoming. Fresh sheets and towels in the rooms every day was lovely. However the bathroom taps were tarnished, something you wouldn't expect with five star, also the way the electricity sockets were positioned you couldn't plug anything in properly, and there was no sockets at all near the dressing table. The pictures of the food on the Internet are very misleading. Looking at them you would indeed think you are going to be dining in a top class restaurant. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEM. THE FOOD IS AWFUL.EVERYTHING WAS STONE COLD AND INEDIBLE! I'M NOT FUSSY BUT COULD NOT EAT THE SLOP THEY SERVED. I eventually gave up eating here at all. By all means stay as the staff are five star, however save your money and dine out. They need to sack the chef!

Just returned with my wife and 10 year old daughter from a week 10/04/2014-17/04/2014 at Grand Hotel La Pace near Sorrento. The Hotel is very nice with lovely decor particularly in the lobby. The staff are very friendly and helpful and overall we found the Hotel to be very good. We stayed on a half board basis and found the food a real highlight with a great choice for breakfast and the evening meal in the Restaurant excellent with respect to both the quality and choice of food and also the excellent service, which was probably best service we had ever experienced.

The Hotel is about 2km from Sorrento, the walk because of the narrow streets is pretty dangerous due to the narrow winding streets and very busy roads, so thankfully the Hotel puts on a regular reliable FREE coach service to the main bus station in Sorrento at regular intervals throughout the day, with the return journey being equally as reliable.

The room was a little disappointing, although it had all that you would expect to have in a decent Hotel, however the walls were paper thin and literally you could hear the people either side and above which was a bit of a nuisance. The bathroom had no extractor fan which again was a bit of a nuisance. The Hotel boasts of FREE WI-FI however this is limited to just the lobby area, which our daughter found a little annoying. I must admit that for a modern Hotel not to have WI-FI throughout was a little surprising. Their was no entertainment in the Hotel in the evenings aside from a Jazz singer and pianist on Friday and Saturday evenings for a couple of hours in the American Bar. Their is very little for children in the Hotel, the pool was not filled until just before we left, although I do respect that it is very early in the season, the Gym area and Sauna and Jacuzzi are off limits for children under 18 to use even with parents.

Highlights of our holiday aside from the wonderful dining experience in the Hotel every night, were trips to Capri which is stunning and Pompeii which was everything we had hoped it would be and more.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Hotel, and loved the Sorrento area, although we did agree that we would probably stay nearer the centre of Sorrento on our next visit and maybe have a Hotel with more amenities for Children.

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea view if you can, back of Hotel overlooks a dilapidated farm

- I came here for an Easter relaxing break for a week with my partner and his parents. Upon researching, this hotel not only looked the nicest and the best value but also was only £300 each approx for bed and breakfast.
Upon arrival, we were early for
check in at 2pm and tired as we traveled through the night but they let us in our rooms straight away to get settled and gave us a full brief of all the necessary information we needed. There is also wifi in the lobby/restaurant areas - Bonus!
We went bed and breakfast, which was a good choice of cooked and continental and different breads and cakes. The staff were always so attentive and helpful - always went the extra mile!
We ate in their restaurant only once and for €30.00 each we had a 4 course meal which was divine and professional.
However, watch what drinks you are buying and make sure when your are signing the bill to ensure right amount. The only problem we had with this is that they started pouring prosecco in our glasses and we thought it was free, but it wasn't.
But it was lovely anyway.
The rooms were nice and clean and catered to all our needs. There are televisions with what looked like free view - but all in Italian and a bad reception for BBC news, so didn't really bother with that.
Our rooms had a mountain view as sea view was more expensive but it was lovely and a nice balcony.
Rooms always made up lovely upon returning at the end of each day.
Defintely recommend this hotel, nice and relaxing. Positives outweigh negatives!
Negatives
- always check bill before signing
- wifi only in lobby and some restaurant areas
The weather was surprisingly lovely in Easter and were able to explore the local island of Capri and climb the volcano and eat in lovely places around Sorrento!
Enjoy and hope this helps :)

We had an enjoyable stay here 7 years ago and were interested to see if anything had changed since our last visit. I am pleased to say that we were not disappointed. The hotel is about a 15 - 20 minute walk up from the main Corso Italia road,so if you are not fit it would be advisable to take a cab. Th first impression as you walk into reception is fantastic. Lots of marble and a magnificent chandelier dominate the foyer. The receptionist was very efficient and we were upgraded to superior sea view rooms at no extra cost. The rooms are well appointed with spacious bathrooms and a powerful shower over the bath. The only negative is that the shower mixers are not thermostatic so take some juggling to get the temperature just right. The buffet breakfast is adequate without being outstanding, it is difficult to get a good cup of tea as the hot water is kept in an urn and cools down fairly quickly. We had dinner in the restaurant on two occasions, the set menu is reasonable value, although more expensive than local restaurants, but the food is excellent. There is a shuttle bus that runs to Sorrento about 6 times a day and saves the walk down to Sant Agnello. All the staff were extremely friendly and efficient. If you want to visit Sorrento and the surrounding areas, this hotel is an excellent base, costing less than hotels in the centre of Sorrento and in a nice quiet location.
