“There are better hotels”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

Stayed in a four bedroom room (1 bunk bed, 2 singles) as part of a large student group. Door did not open or close properly (but did lock, room 104). Room was damp. Walls are paper thing. No A/C control in room-- froze the first night.

***NO WIFI in room-- only in lobby. Also, barely got service in room. Even with a a data plan, I had to go outside to get service.

Room was tiny, but clean. No soap was provided to anyone staying in our group (two dozen rooms?), though they begrudgingly provided it when we asked at the desk. Kind of gross. "Towels" were provided, but they were really sheets, not towels. Towel warmer did not work in our room. Hair dyer provided. Half the decorative molding had fallen off the inside of the room.

Room was cleaned daily, beds made, towels refreshed and bathroom mopped. Maid even tucked in roommate's stuffed animal under the covers.

Breakfast was standard. Croissant, roll, jelly, butter, nutella, honey, water, fruit juice, coffee machine, milk, cornflakes.

About a 25 minute walk to the main road/Piazza Tasso. If you're looking for quiet, this is it. But if you want to be closer to the action/water/any food, book something off the main road, like Hotel Rivage. I would not stay at this hotel again. Nicer hotels are available for the same price.

Room Tip: Not room 104.

Dear guest,
Allow me to sincerely apologise for having given you cause to share your concerns on TripAdvisor.

We agree with you "there better hotels" and our aim is to improve day by day.
As "better hotels" there are "better tour operators" aswell. You stayed here with a large student group and that compay asked for a very very stressfull rate (less than 20 euro per person) with no towels and soap but then we gave them to the students anyway freely, even if it had to be 'extra'. Our biggest error was to accept this kind of group.

About rates, booking on our website is always more convenient.

For sure, the experience you had it wasn't as a standard experience at Hotel Florida and we invite you to give us an opportunity to show you that. Please contact us and we will be glad to welcome you again. We are sure you'll feel the difference and enjoy your holidays to the fullest.

Best regards,

Andrea Mauro

My first stay in Italy at this hotel and I loved it, so much so that I've just booked our next holiday to this hotel for September 2014. I loved that it was quiet and off the main roads so you weren't disturbed by traffic at night. Loved that it was family run, and everyone was so friendly and attentive. It was basic, but clean and that's all you really need, as you don't go on holiday to Italy to stay in the hotel all the time! I also enjoyed the fact that people weren't able to reserve their sunbeds, as the pool & poolside are not open until 9 am :-)

A request for the management for our next visit... Would love to have the same room as last time, in the annex on the top floor over looking the pool...?

We had a fantastic experience mainly thanks to polite and very attentive staff who went beyond during our stay. The food was tasty-cooked with fresh vegetables grown in their garden. Breakfast a bit poor but good.At lunch there was the snek Italianate, but not only that, if you wanted more kindly the chef there content. In the evening an excellent menu with variety of dishes: appetizers, first and second. Excellent local fish!.
Also present was the traditional Italian dessert. We came to try the authentic Italian cuisine and certainly we made full and very satisfied. Very good chef!
The rooms were exceptionally clean, good size and had air conditioning. We haven't spent a lot of time there as the main centre of Sant'Agnello is about 15 minutes walk.
Overall, a fantastic stay for my first time in Italy.

We would stay there again without a doubt.

The Hotel was very disappointing, the room we had number 114, it was on the ground floor,we could hear the people above us doing the toilet, not nice, it was like being in a water feature when they flushed, washed or had a shower.
I asked for another mattress as I could feel the springs, very uncomfortable, it was not replaced, so got 3 blankets out of the wardrobe, folded them and put them under the sheet.
The owners were friendly as was the breakfast waiter, the breakfast was poor, having to pay for anything that was cooked. The pool area was nice to sit round.
We would not go back to this Hotel.
The area the Hotel is in is very quiet, and near to Sorrento.

This was our third time in Sorrento, we felt the litter and dog mess had got worse, it is sad as this is such a nice area, even the ancient sights had litter in them.

We just came back from a lovely week in beautiful Sorrento and this hotel is a great little place. We liked everythig: the room was great, the staff friendly, they even have live music on Tuesdays where they cook good food and we relaxed with great Italian (and American) songs. Yes, the rooms are basic, but they are clean and have everything you need. Yes, the hotel is 10 min of brisk walk from the center of Sorrento and the train station, but we knew that coming in and we did not mind the walk. Yes, the streets are crowded and the sidewalks narrow or nonexistent, but you are in Italy! We did not want to pay twice the price for a room elsewhere. Did I mention they have parking for your car? And by the way, Primo Rota is a very (and I mean very) narrow street, so we took via Coccumella (as the hotelier advised us when we called after trying to enter the address into our GPS to not avail) and made a left.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back building facin the pool.

Stayed at the Florida for the fifth time in august and yet again we were not disappointed. Even though I had not stayed at the hotel for three years the staff always remember you. The hotel is run by a lovely family who always make you feel welcolme. The Florida is an excellent base to explore Sorrento and I cant wait to return...may just have to book up next year again!!

We (4 friends) stayed in a 4 bed room for 4 nights at the end of September. Although it was a little walk away from the centre of Sorrento, we found it more than met our needs. The rooms were cleaned daily, the breakfast was included and the pool was a great way to relax in the sunshine. Having Florida as a base gave us more money to spend on activities. Miguel on the front desk could not have been more helpful. He helped with booking a great private boat trip to Capri, gave us hints for our trips to Pompeii and Positano as well as sorting out a taxi.

All in all we had a fabulous time and I would definitely recommend a stay at Hotel Florida while in Sorrento.
