My name is Monika, I am from Slovakia, Bratislava. I and my friend came to Sorrento to celebrate our birthdays. We stayed in La Pergola Hotel Sorrento for a week. What a mistake. I wish we had stayed much longer. It was not only the town of Sorrento which impressed us deeply but our pleasant feeling was emphasized thanks to the hotel La Pergola and its friendly staff. Although this hotel does not belong to the biggest one, for us it was beneficial and we chose it deliberately as we do not like crowds of people strolling around and shrieking children of very early age. We especially loved the atmosphere, which is peaceful and relaxing as this hotel is visited mostly by couples seeking for calm and relaxing stay and parents with grown up children so there is no hassle and noise around. The location is also convenient, just 5 min to the local lovely beach and within a short time to get to the very downtown of Sorrento having a nice walk among the villas and admiring the seaside which we found very refreshing and keeping us a bit sporty.
The hotel itself is furnished in a typical Italian style, very clean and cosy. We had a nice view from the balcony; those who visited Sorrento and saw its appealing scenery know what I am talking about. It has everything what a holidaymaker can wish, dramatic beauty of rocks, azure colour of the sky and all those colours of the blooming flowers and greenery around. The hotel offers some extras, like roof terrace where I spent unforgettable moments, pool next to a lovely garden where you can cool down during a hot day and the meals are prepared not only professionally but with a love and respect to the hotel guest / even in case of food intolerance, as we could see at our neighbour table, the staff is very helpful/.
We would definitely come back. Big thank you to all the staff and the manager of the La Pergola Hotel.

This is a lovely little hotel. Ok having to pay 50 Euro for air conditioning for the week plus 27 Euro for the use of the safe is a bit annoying but as far as I know most hotels in the area do this. Air conditioning was a must when my boyfriend and I were there as it was 40 degrees!!! The breakfast was adequate nothing amazing but plentiful. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. Only small thing is the shower cubicle is very very small but it wasn't a major problem. The staff really make this hotel very friendly and helpful. The prices for food are reasonable we had lunch there one day and it was lovely. Drink prices are a little expensive but it's the same everywhere in Italy. The walk from the hotel into Sorrento takes about 30 mins just strolling and it's a welcome walk for working off all that amazing Italian food. Overall we had a lovely weeks stay I would stay here again especially if some of the more luxurious sea front hotels aren't in the budget! I think some of the poor reviews recently are a little unfair, just be aware of the extra cost for air conditioning and the safe.

My husband & I stayed at La Pergola for a week at the end of June, we travel abroad every year but have never come across such friendly & helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble for them.
We stayed in room 206 which had a lovely big balcony overlooking the front of the hotel, the cleaner came into the room every day leaving clean towels. Breakfasts & Evening meals were all delicious with plenty of choice, we were very well looked after in the restaurant by Raphael. If were to return to this part of Italy, we would definately stay at La Pergola again.

We have just returned from our holiday in Sorrento. Having booked this hotel as a result of reading the previous trip advisor reviews, we were not disappointed. Although slightly down a driveway and behind another hotel, looking a little in need of decorating on the outside, we were warmly greeted on arrival.
The transfer took about one and half hours so we had missed our evening meal but we were provided with a salad and dessert.
The Hotel pool is small with a Jacuzzi and shower to use, and plenty of sun chairs. On the roof is a solarium with ample sun loungers a shower and a seating area in the shade. From here snack meals and drinks could be ordered using the phone and the waiter would bring it up to the top floor for you.
All extras were signed for and the bill settled on departure. An additional tax is necessary for April October of 1 euro pppn for 7 days and over, which needs to be paid in cash.
The breakfast choices included pastries, cheeses and meats as well as cereals and either eggs with bacon or omelets and served from 7.00-10 am.

The evening meals were fantastic always well presented of good variety and choices and chosen the morning at breakfast-great value, as we were half board. The waiting staff headed up by Raphael were all incredibly polite and professional, fantastic for a family run hotel.
We had a packed lunch on one day that we were on an excursion to Rome; this was more than adequate with x2 sandwich rolls, fruit and water. I don't eat meat and the staff were very obliging in changes to my menu.
We walked into Sorrento and back most days probably averaging 3.5 miles, however there is a bus that stops outside the hotel that is relatively cheap. Tickets can be bought at the tobacconist’s 24 hr/3 days and can also be used on the trains, I believe.
The trains (stations at Sorrento and St Agnello- The Circumvesuviana) and local buses are great value, and we went to Pompeii, Vesuvius, Ercolano, and Amalfi using them. There are regular boat or Jetfoil trips from Sorrento Marina too which goes to Capri, Ischia, Naples and Amalfi.
The Rome trip we thought was good value and although a v long day was well worth it.
Thomas Cook’s rep Claire provided us with good information and although only being in the job 3 months was very knowledgeable and helpful too.
Beautiful area of Italy would recommend it to everyone.
To be absolutely honest there are lots of other hotels which looked great along the walk to Sorrento but if we were to go again, which we will, we would still book La Pergola. Great staff, great hospitality and great value A*

Room Tip: Some rooms are bigger , perhaps to sleep 3 or more . The rooms at the back didn't get any noise from the garden bar and other hotel. We had a room on the 2nd floor good exercise after the plentiful portions !!!( there is a lift however)

I would like to clarify that I have never written reviews of hotels, but there is a special case. My opinion is like the answer to the two previous reviews MAGGYWOMAN and GREX 9101! I would like to express their anger and resentment!
Our flight was 16 July and the day before departure, we had read these "wonderful reviews" we were shocked! Our first desire was to give away, but it was too late!
We flew into a terrible state, a normal person will always be in a little excitement for the upcoming holidays, and imagine that you say in advance that your holiday will be just disgusting and it is better not to go there ... you do not leave us a bit spoiled.

Towels for the beach?? Maybe your claims a little overstated in relation to the 3 * hotel? It really is not 5 * all inclusive where and where its own private beach .. and then people .. For example here is an opportunity to go to Capri, or you will take the hotel towels? For example we advance our travel agency warned of the need for their beach towels, regardless of the stars. So maybe it is your fault or a travel agency that sold you the trip? And didn’t the hotel that you still could not answer a poor employee, if they do not provide it?

With regard to tax us again, our tour agency warned of this tax, we also give a printout of a tax on all the major cities of Italy, so maybe it's their fault that they will not provide this information and not the hotel?? And besides, you pay the tax isn’t about the hotel and the city!
And if you buy the book and the hotels themselves, saving on travel agencies to be prepared that some information that would give you a travel agency you will not get that and maybe do not know .. but you have saved .. so what's wrong hotel??
lack of restaurants nearby .. blame hotel again ... Why do not you take a hotel in the center of Sorrento with its many restaurants? Far to the sea? Noisy? Or, again, saved?
Your feedback is the following, we decided to check it all .. We also advised the restaurant in Sorrento, we were just amazed, the restaurant was just wonderful, wonderful living garden, nice music .. and dinner was very tasty.
I can’t understand how people can criticize even what they don’t know and didn’t see! For me it has to question the whole of their review.
about the fact that someone came into the room, where are you from? You are at home, too, do not close the door?
As for the second review, I’d like to ask if you knew that the Sorrento is very expensive to what your complaint to the hotel? Write everything here is so expensive, even at the bar which is located next to the hotel, the prices are very high, but is for prices to meet Sorrneto hotel?

And the distance from Sorrento, we would like to know when you booked the hotel didn’t see where he is, well, is not it possible not to inquire on the Internet? If you have seen .. and it is then for you it wasn’t important in order to save either all the same you have deceived the hotel to the distance?
On the food can’t say anything unnecessarily, we only have breakfast and 3 * hotel very good.
The only points on which I agree is the lack of sunbeds by the pool, and small shower, it's true.

As a conclusion, I‘d say these reviews almost ruined our vacation. And as it turns out it's just complaints of people that are poorly rested and blame it all but themselves, and in these little complaint refers to the hotel so they write reviews in both the rooms are clean and the staff are polite and do you recall it seems that You promised 5 stars close to Sorrento, and cheated. People, you got what you paid for that, and no need to blame in this hotel. Hotel is excellent, the staff is good at doing his job, always clean and tidy. We are very pleased and will recommend to all our friends.
