We loved everything about Casa Mazzola - it's high up on a hillside (almost in the country - we heard roosters crowing in the morning) with a beautiful view of Sorrento, Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. Luigi is an artist and his whimsical art is everywhere - in the breakfast room, on the patio, frescos on the walls of the rooms - it's like staying in a mini-art gallery. Our room was on the patio; it was roomy, clean and inviting. Breakfast includes home made pastries, fresh fruit, ham and cheese, cereal and yogurt. There is a computer in the breakfast room for guests to use, and a small book exchange library. The city bus stops just outside the gate, so it's convenient to get to town - and you're away from all the traffic and noise. Luigi and Ugo are wonderful hosts, very warm and welcoming, and very accommodating. They will meet you at the train station, and drive you to and from town if you need a ride outside the hours that the city bus runs. Luigi gave us excellent suggestions for places to visit, complete with hand drawn maps. Our three-day stay was too short! - be sure to allow yourself time to relax and explore this beautiful part of the country!
Note: Be sure to read the directions that come with your room confirmation (we didn't)! Sant'Agnello and Sorrento are two separate towns. If you're arriving by train, get off at the Sant'Agnello station. If you're driving, follow the written directions - don't depend on your GPS - it will direct you to streets that are too narrow for a car.
Casa mazzola is in a residential area - no shops of restaurants nearby (part of its charm for us) -- Ugo drove us to two restaurants in the area (not downtown) which were both excellent with very reasonable prices - and a restaurant staff member drove us back to the B&B. What service!!!
