“A Class Apart!”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

This gorgeous 18th century summer villa previously owned by Italian nobility, that has since come into the hands of the family of our charming hostess Angela, is a treat to live in. I would recommend a stop here for anyone travelling through the Amalfi coast, as in my opinion, this entrancing place perfectly encapsulates the love for all things beautiful and leisurely, that the idea of the Amalfi coast inspires.

We drove here, and though there is no parking space available within the hotel, a public parking a mere stone's throw away from the location, is very convenient. The hotel is located in Sant'Agnello, slightly outside of main Sorrento, but the walk there is quite easy, and one has the option of hiring pricey taxis as well.

The hotel is elegant in the extreme, yet understated- a truly charming specimen of old world glamour, the kind you want to revel in, on a luxury vacation. The charming property decorated with tasteful knick-knacks from travels all over the world, surrounded by plush gardens, and a lovely swimming pool under lemon and orange groves, is absolutely wonderful!

We were given room no. 7, which was converted from the attic, and therefore, was very large by any standard, and very comfortable. A huge balcony attached to our room was another added attraction. W-fi routers located in each room were also very helpful.

Angela, besides being a woman of great taste is also very helpful with suggesting places to eat at and see in the surrounding areas, and not once were we disappointed with her recommendations!

Breakfast, served in the alluring dining area, was perhaps the best breakfast we were served throughout our stay in Italy, due to the new preparations of traditional Italian dishes and delicious baked goods presented to us everyday.

Though it is a BnB, if you're just in the mood to lounge by the pool, and let the world drift by, the staff will be happy to serve you poolside drinks and snacks.

Really a wonderfully charming hotel!

We stayed for 5 nights and shifted rooms as we extended our stay. Both rooms can only be described as large by any accommodation standard. The Hotel was quiet, very clean and tidy. The owner Angela was a delight. Very helpful and spoke excellent English. The Hotel is a short walk into the centre of town, and there is a Bus Stop 30 meters from the front entrance and buses pass every 30 minutes. An easy walk to the other end of the street to catch the train. Numerous (cheap) Restaurants in the area. Beautiful breakfast. Life would be great if we could guarantee this type of accommodation everywhere we went.

Villa Saravese was truly exquisite! Located in the heart of Sant Agnello, it's within easy walking distance of the seaside cliffs and restaurants one way and downtown the other way.

The grounds were just divine, interesting and well manicured. The swimming pool was an added bonus...wished I'd brought a bathing suit with me. And the decor of the villa absolutely beautiful yet comfortable and very quiet. We were on the 3rd floor and got to watch a beautiful sunset from our little balcony. The room was large and nicely decorated. The bathroom included a Jacquizzi tub/shower. Tubs seems really hard to come by in Italy!

Breakfast was served in the atrium downstairs and a most magnificent array of homemade dishes provided I've ever seen for a B&B. No one could walk away hungry.

Service at Villa Savarese was as first-class as the accomodations. Angela was a fabulous hostess. I would love to come back and spend an entire week here.

We stayed in Villa Savarese in October13 and loved the place. Angela is just a gem, very helpful and very kind. The house is amazing as it used to be her family's home it has a real feeling of meaning to her. Great to relax at the pool or sit in the amazing library. Would recommend it to anyone visiting Sorrento.

Once inside the gate, the Relais Villa Savarese makes a lovely picture with old white villa set in a small garden with lots of lush vegetation. Very helpful Angela immediately greets you with a warm welcome and lots of practical advice. Angela was keen to make us feel at home and was very helpful.

It wasn't clear from the website but clear on arrival there was no space to park on the grounds, so we had to get a parking permit (€15 per week) and park on the street outside, which was fine.

Breakfast included fresh fruit (a must for me), pastries and cakes, hams and cheese, and some home cooking.

The walk to Sorrento isn't very scenic but as parking was difficult it was preferable. There wasn't much in Sant Agnello, but there was a train station so we took trains to Pompei and Herculean.

Room Tip: If you want a view don't take a a junior suite in the attic. We were put in the junior suite wit...

We enjoyed staying here very much. We either walked or took the bus to Sorrento - not far at all & the bus is convenient. The Villa itself is a work of art. We had the jr. suite which was spacious & lovely. We were able to park our car in the driveway for 3 days which was so convenient & secure. The hostess, Angela, is very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is buffet with fresh baked quiche every day & is served very elegantly in the solarium. There are a few absolutely wonderful restaurants close by that serve very authentic local specialties - Donna Rosa is family run & everyone we talked to were there for a 2nd or 3rd time, We would highly recommend this villa as an option to staying in Sorrento itself - the local experience is well worth it.

Room Tip: The jr. suite is very spacious and has lots of windows.

A stay at Villa Savarese is an experience and our time there was too short. In a residential area, the tasteful and well appointed villa is quiet, relaxing and hospitable. Not only were my daughter and myself made to feel welcome during our two night stay (Sept 28th and 29th), Angela's warmth extended to my sister and nephew who visited us, which was both lovely and appreciated. Breakfast was a delight, in quality, variety and setting. Towels for our day trip to Capri were kindly and promptly provided. Villa Savarese provides personal and attentive service in a beautiful setting.
The walk into Sorrento is about 35mins. There are restaurants in the local neighbourhood.
(A metered taxi charged us €19.60 one way from town after dinner)
