Hotel Mediterrneao was recommended to us by our friends who honeymooned there last year and we loved it too from the moment we arrived with the smiling staff to the time we left and everything in between! The pool is huge and lots of nice lounge chairs and an outdoor bar and pizza oven, which we both loved! Great place with great views ......including the incredible buffet breakfast with a view of Mt. Vesuvious every morning!!

The hotel was lovely, and the service was wonderful. All of the people working the front desk were extremely helpful, but Aniello was indispensable. When booking a room, try for a room with a balcony overlooking the sea. This hotel offers a free shuttle bus into town, and there's a wonderful restaurant diagonally across the street to the right of the hotel called Il Campanna. The breakfast provided by the hotel is exceptional.

Just got back from a week at the Hotel Mediterraneo and it was lovely.

The location is great - Sant'Agnello is far enough away from Sorrento to be a bit more peaceful and slow-paced, away from the crowds. The hotel is set over the cliffs so that you get a stunning view of the Gulf of Naples, and the most beautiful sunsets. It's also close to the train station so really easy to go on a day trip to Pompeii/Herculaneum/Naples etc.

The pool area is one of the nicest I've seen - loads of sunbeds to go around so you're never having to fight for them; towels provided; nice grassy area with trees at the back with a bit of shade; big pool that's always at a nice temperature. There is also an outdoor lounge area next to the pool with absolutely lovely decor (wicker chairs, lemon trees, palm trees). It's perfect to go for a drink in the early evening before dinner (and take advantage of the happy hour free snacks!).

We didn't eat in the hotel for dinner but we ate at the poolside restaurant a few times for lunch - the food was always very nice (pizza, pasta, salads), good portions and good quality. It's not especially cheap for drinks (€4.50 for a pint of beer) but that's about standard (possibly slightly higher) for the area it seemed.

There are a few restaurants near to the hotel. Moonlight was the best of them, Il Capanno was also nice. We tried the restaurant opposite the hotel, which is right on the cliff and has amazing views, but we weren't impressed - lots of flies (as we were seated outside and next to a lamp), and we had to wait an hour for any food (and even then it wasn't what we ordered as they'd run out by then). The food itself was quite nice when it came, but we were put off so didn't go back. There is a really nice little cafe just around the corner from the hotel opposite the road that runs into Sorrento which does lovely things for a quick lunch - the Saltimbocca (pizza sanwich-type thing) with aubergines was amazing!

The rest of the time we went to Sorrento for dinner where there are loads of places to eat - the better ones are away from the main square, which is really busy. The hotel shuttle bus into town is really useful but we also walked a couple of times - lovely walk in the evening (15-20 minutes), but too hot to do in the daytime (as we discovered!).

The staff at the hotel were very nice - we didn't have that much interaction with them but they were always very helpful when we asked them for help (e.g. maps, train times, organising a take-away breakfast when we had to leave for an early flight).

We had a standard room which was on the ground floor. It was a split level room - the first floor bed area was nice and I liked that it was separated, but the downstairs was really small - no room to sit down so it was definitely more of a place to crash than to hang out. We didn't have any view from our window - we were just facing some bushes - and because it was on the ground floor and near the pool and reception it was occasionally a bit noisy. It would have been nice to have been higher up to have some kind of balcony, but we did pay for a cheaper room so weren't that surprised. Bathroom was nice with a powerful shower, and you didn't have to pay any extra for the air con (which was always on and at a perfect temperature).

I'd definitely go back to this hotel - it was so beautiful and perfect for a couples week as it's very romantic. Apparently it's popular for weddings and I can see why. Would recommend this hotel highly!

This hotel is most impressive as it sits up on a cliff and has the most glorious views. The roof top restaurant served delicious food. All the staff were outstanding, especially Nelo. He was so helpful when I needed a dentist. As we had a very early morning departure the hotel provided a bountiful bagged breakfast for each of us. Be sure to view their website and just know this hotel is more beautiful than the photos show.

If you are looking for a hotel in the Sorrento area that has that little bit more class than other 4 stars in the vacinity then Hotel Mediterraneo is the one for you. The hotel looks like it has been renovated recently as its immaculate inside - from the reception area and bar through to the spacious & clean bedrooms. It has a beautiful garden area along with a fantastic swimming pool and accompanying pool bar that sells great food & drinks at very reasonable prices. Don't miss the happy hour at 6pm at the pool bar where you get cheaper drinks (beers for €3.50) and lovely free sandwiches & snacks! Also don't miss the sunset from the front of the hotel in the evenings - its a beautiful view right across the ocean. The staff are very friendly and will go out of there way to help or recommend places to visit. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return. The hotel is located approximately 1.5 miles from the centre of Sorrento so you can walk into town in around 20 minutes or alternatively catch the free shuttle bus that the hotel provides free of charge throughout the day. Warning - don't get taxis in Sorrento they are very expensive! Overall this is an excellent hotel.

Just returned from a week at the Mediterraneo and must concur with the majority of reviewers. Fabulous, small, friendly hotel with fantastic personal service. Location for us was perfect - out of the centre of Sorrento (which we lovedby the way) but easily accessible by foot, local bus and complimentary shuttle bus. Rooms pleasant (compact bathroom - shower only - but we had booked the stardard option, we did have a small balcony overlooking the gardens (just) room 116 but with views to hills and got all the morning sun. Restaurant staff great, restaurant views spectacular and food of good quality and varied. Nice to be served at your table for dinner rather than 'buffet'. Pool and gardens wonderful with high quality furniture. Reception staff extremely helpful and efficient. I have noted the points by other visitors re: location but must say that if you do your research it is clear that the hotel is not in the centre of Sorrento but in a fairly upmarket and peaceful area which we found restful after days spent doing the 'tourist sights'. Clientel varied from American/Canadians doing 'grand tours' , family groups and young people celebrating weddings in the area and independent travellers to Saga & clients of other tour operators. We travelled independently with transfers organised by the hotel - all e-mails were answered promptly and with lots of information and our transfers were seemless. Again many thanks to the Hotel Mediterraneo for a wonderful holiday and for helping to make our first visit to the area live up to expections. We would highly recommend this hotel.

They say always save the best for last, on our recent trip this was so very true. The last days of our trip to Italy was spent in the Sant'Agnello area with our stay at the Hotel Mediterraneo. Everything from the room, the staff, the grounds, and attention to detail made for a great end to our trip. I have told everyone since returning that this was an experience that will be remembered for the rest of our lives. We are thankful for the staff at the Mediterraneo for their kindness and hospitality. This is a place we wish to return some day and look forward to that day.

Room Tip: Request a seaside view when making reservations.
