“Beautiful hotel in great location”
Reviewed 7 November 2011

My husband and I stayed here for the first time in September for two nights and loved our whole experience at the Meditteraneo. Room was beautiful and very clean with lovely view from the second floor overlooking the courtyard/pool area. Breakfast was very good and views from outdoor seating in the breakfast room were beautiful. Though we didn't have lunch or dinner here, we thoroughly enjoyed the happy hour on both evenings. Bar staff were very friendly and fun! Desk staff were also quite friendly and helpful. Overall great experience and would revisit in future and recommend to family and friends.

The Hotel Mediteranneo is a charming and well situated hotel. The staff is excellent and the restaurant had beautiful views and delicious food! The grounds are well-kept with a beautiful pool as it's centerpiece. Would recommend this hotel to all! Anna Clavin - Owner of Metro Travel

This was our seventh holiday at the Mediterraneo and the best yet! The staff are always friendly and go out of their way to help. We enjoyed dinner by the pool twice, which is a wonderful experience. The food was better than ever this year, we were with our daugther and her boyfriend who is a bit of a fussy eater! but he found lots of choice on the menu. We find the location excellent, its 20min walk into the centre of Sorrento, and at night if you don't fancy the walk there is a lovely bar across the road with great views or you walk up the road in to the centre of Saint Agnello where there are more bars! We are never bored there are so many places to visit or theres the gorgeous pool to lounge by! Going back to the Mediterraneo is like going home, we know we will be well looked after and we can just relax.

My partner and I travelled in late August and stayed for a week. Sorrento and the area is a dream location so already it had loads going for it! But the staff really were the friendliest we've experienced anywhere. So helpful and you could have a good laugh with them, esp. the barman at the pool. We even paid a small fortune to go on their Capri cruise - absolutely breathtaking, I really felt like a WAG (Brits you know what I mean!). Food was also amazing, esp the buffet night but we drank too many cocktails and ended up with a steep bar bill. oops (again our fault!). The view from the top of the building was wonderful - watching the sun going down on vesuvio was very romantic even for us (!).

After reading the reviews prior to travel, we upgraded to a seaview room but must say this was our only disappointment. My boyfriend is 6' 4" and we had a tiny room at the end of the corridor. We didn't complain because everything else was fab, but it did make life in the room a bit awkward, ie. to the extent that we didn't have enough space for cases. We were disappointed because when we saw the maids cleaning the other rooms (as you do!), they were twice the size of ours. Disappointed but will probably ask in future - we def plan on returning, what a trip!

We spent 9 days at the Hotel Mediterraneo. Although the online photos are a little misleading, the rooms, overall, are quite comfortable.

We had quite a spectacular view of the Mediterranean, with Naples and Mount Vesuvius in the distance.

The hotel is strategically located on the periphery of Sorrento, Piazza Tasso, easily reachable by foot and/or use of the hotel's shuttle.

Train and bus station also easily reachable by foot or shuttle.

Excellent location as a base of travel operations.

The hotel provided a substantial breakfast buffet, and if you asked, the pleasant staff would provide you with cappuccino and omelette from the kitchen...no extra charge.

Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful.

Danielle at the bar was a pleasure and provided many tips about restaurants in the area and travel to Naples.

All in all, a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must, floors three and higher..

Both the sea view and the garden view are magnificent. The hotel is immaculately clean and has all of the qualities of a 4 star hotel, without the pretentiousness. The staff is warm, friendly and overall amazing. They go above and beyond to make guests feel welcomed. The location is perfect. It is only a short walk to the center of town. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel.

Room Tip: I think the garden view was even more beautiful than the sea view

You know how the photos of an area never quite look the same in person? You usually are disappointed in some way. The Hotel Mediterraneo is everything and more than you expected. The hotel was spit polished,so clean and very much updated in all respects. We had very comfortable beds, housekeeping every day, plenty of closet space and drawers, wonderful breakfasts with many cereals, granolas ,local breads ,rolls jams eggs sausages, yogurts of many kinds, juices, teas, desserts, but the coffee was extreamly strong.Upon arrival we did spend an extra 40 euros per day to get a room with a balcony and the views and sea breezes were worth it. You open the huge, tall french doors and the white sheer curtains lightly billowed into the room. Even though there was a street below us it was very quiet. There was a free shuttle bus starting at 8 A.M.every hour to hour and a half, the last shuttle back to the hotel was at 10:30 P.M. The shuttle driver was so very kind so please tip him a little each time. Please arrange to have their driver pick you up at the bus station. We didn't know to do this and a taxi was 20 or 21 euros for the less than a mile trip to the hotel. The bar was chic and the bartenders entertaining. Charge a glass of wine to your room and take it outside to wander around the beautiful manicured grounds or sit by the pool in their upscale and comfortable lounge chairs.Francesca was usually at the front desk and was always helpful and gracius. The shuttle will drop you off about two blocks from the main Piazza Tasso. Many mid afternoons we spent sitting at a front table at the Fauno Bar sipping on a bottle of 19 euro wine that was very good. They also bring you a bowl of wonderful green olives(and I do not like olives),a bowl of peanuts, bread sticks, and if you ask, they will also bring you a plate of bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. All these extras at no charge. WE were at the Hotel Mediterraneo in mid Oct. 2011 and only needed a sweater at night. In their gardens the flowers, bushes and trees were all blooming and their lemon trees had friut on them. Sorry to go on and on but the Hotel Mediterraneo was a dream come true. If we ever get a chance to go back I would not waste a moment on looking for a different hotel . I wanted perfection and I found it!

Room Tip: Get a room on an upper level with a balcony. You could throw a rock into the sea from there.
