What a great place. Exceeded our expectations. Pure white lobby very very clean. Staff was very helpful. We would return gladly. The garden and pool area are great and very clean. Sorrento is a very friendly town.

Room Tip: Sea view superior with balcony.

We returned from Hotel Mediterraneo last night after a 5 day beautiful break in Sant Agnello. The positive reviews on TA of this hotel are spot on - we were not disappointed and would not hesitate to stay there again.

We had paid for a room with a sea view, the room we had been allocated had a sea view but was at the back corner of the building. It did have a lovely view of the bay in Sorrento, but when we saw the spectacular panoramic view from the terrace on our 1st morning at breakfast we felt that we were missing out a little. I went down to reception to enquire as to whether there was a room available at the front of the hotel, and after only a few minutes we were given a room at the front corner of the hotel which had 2 windows so that we could enjoy the spectacular views in their entirety! Amazing!

The only minor problems which I could comment on was that the double bed was obviously 2 single made up together which was a little uncomfortable (& I'm no Princess and the Pea!) and the were a lot of quite early morning disturbances from local dogs in the street below - although I accept that this is out of the Hotel's control.

There was a more 'mature' clientèle in the hotel and not an amazing amount of night life in the immediate area, but it's not really a destination for hardcore nights out! There is a bar next to the hotel which was open until late if a late night drink was in order.

The pool and outside seating area is very pleasant, a real oasis with plenty of seating/sunbeds and beautiful trees and plants.

The walk into Sorrento was easy enough, 20mins at a regular stroll. The Shuttle though was a welcome facility after pounding the streets of Sorrento or Capri, just make sure that you carry the timetable with you.

Breakfast was very pleasant, especially if you can get a table on the terrace. The food is replenished on a regular basis and the option of Spumante with breakfast was a nice touch!

I would certainly recommned this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing break with spectacular views and attentive staff.

Room Tip: Room 408 was had a double aspect of the bay with a window to the side and front of the hotel (I gues...

Lovely Hotel, good staff excellent breakfast and cracking views. Arrived and welcomed with a big smile and room at the front of the Hotel with a balcony overlooking the bay. Lovely grounds in the hotel - only downside was room bit dated. Lovely place to have breakfast with a view. Tip - late at night go and have a coffee in the cafe on the little pier opposite.

Room Tip: Go for front.

Had a lovely honeymoon at the Mediterraneo in September 2012, I cant fault the place, a beautiful hotel with fantastic views, comfortable rooms, great food, brilliant staff and a lovely garden and pool area.
We loved everything about it, the place made complete by its wonderful staff.

Hi,

we love this hotel and have stayed here on six or seven occasions over the past ten years the most recent being last week.

We have already booked again for a special event in April 2013 as we have always felt most comfortable in the hotel.

It used to be a top ten 'SAGA favourite' hotel but is no longer apparently. The change, we believe, is reflected in the fact that the restaurant has become more attuned to modern tastes, in particular the quality of the food. No longer is the rather plain food it served some years ago acceptable, it is now what you expect of a top rate pub-restaurant in the UK.

The staff are an absolute credit to the hotel being both most informative and very friendly. They are an absolute joy and we now look upon them as being our friends.

Have we recommended this hotel to friends - absolutely, in fact our best friend's daughter spent her honeymoon here.

Will we stay here again - again, absolutely.

We really enjoyed our week at the Mediterraneo. We spent a lot of time researching hotels in the area, have to say we were highly influenced by the reviews on TA. The hotel is about half an hours walk from the centre of Sorrento but as we were half board we never actually went to Sorrento in the evening being quite happy to have our meal and enjoy the hotel bar and occasionally pop across the road to the bar (Terazza) with lovely views over the ocean. We did however walk down to Sorrento and back on several occasions and it is a bit of a hike if you are not up to walking but we found it ok so never used the available shuttle bus of the hotel.

The food was terrific, particularly liked the choice of starters which consisted of soup or three pasta dishes usually or the buffet bar (our choice most nights, lots of different roast vegetables, absolutely delicious). I had the best cabbage risotto ever as a starter one evening it was divine.
The breakfasts were excellent with lots of choice, I did think the coffee and the fruit juice could be improved, just one small gripe! The wine list was fairly limited but we were pleased with our choices each evening.

The staff we encountered were all helpful, we had a problem with our allocated room on the first floor with lots of water noise from the bathrooms on either side of our room and after the first night asked to be moved. This was not a problem with the chap at Reception who was very helpful and we were given a room on the second floor, unfortunately this was still a problem with very thin walls on either side, however having packed and unpacked for the room change we gave up and just lived with it!

We visited Capri, Ischia, Herculaneum, Vesuvius, Revello, Scala and Amalfi and plan to go back next year to Ischia. The Amalfi coast is just spectacular, if we return to Sorrento I would definitely want to stay at the Mediterraneo albeit with the guarantee of a quieter room!

Room Tip: Our room was on 2nd floor over pool, walls were paper thin, could hear guests on either side talking...

We had two quite different experiences with this hotel. Our first night experience staying in a ground floor garden view room, and then the second and third nights where we were upgraded to a sea view room.

On first arrival we were worried we had made a mistake as we checked in to our garden view room on the ground floor with views straight into the car park. The room wasn't big enough to swing a cat in, and I could barely squeeze into the shower cubicle. The clientele were generally an older crowd which is fine but we did feel like we were staying in a retirement village complete with emergency help alerts in the shower and railings into the swimming pool.

After our first night we were upgraded to an ocean view room which was a beautiful touch from the hotel staff and from there we totally fell for this hotel - it's impossible not to with a view like that from your bedroom window. The sea view room was much larger - as was the bathroom.

The dinners served at the Level 5 restaurant were some of the best meals we had in Italy and we loved the breakfast buffet too - complete with champagne!

The happy hour brought out all the guests to share a glass of wine whilst watching the sunset and the staff brought out nibblies for guests to enjoy.

All in all, we would recommend this hotel, but only if you have the budget to go for a hotel view room.

Room Tip: You must book a sea view room. If you only have budget for a garden view room, then we suggest you l...
