One of the best breaks we have ever had. Location was superb watching the sunset slowly into the sea from the every night from the patio was truly memorable. The staff in reception, restaurant and pool area could not have been better, polite, friendly and very helpful. We went half board, A La Carte was also available but we found the standard menu to be more than adequate as the food was fantastic. Rooftop restaurant was absolutely wonderful with 360 degree views Sorrento to the left, Vesuvius to the right and Bay of Naples in front. Pool and surrounding gardens were beyond our expectations with a good sized pool, for proper swimming which I liked to do. Only minor disappointment room was a bit pokey with no view at all, partly my fault for not booking sea or garden view, but we spent very little time in the room so not really a problem. Getting into Sorrento could not be easier 20min walk or regular shuttle bus.
Overall this was a fantastic holiday and thanks to all the staff for making it a memorable one.

Room Tip: Book a sea or garden view before you go

We stayed in this hotel for 8 nights in September 2013.

LOCATION: It is ideally located in the quiet town of Sant’Agnello, a short walk (20 mins) from the hustle and bustle of nearby Sorrento (alternatively, the hotel provides a free shuttle bus which gets you to Sorrento in 5 minutes). The idyllic cliff-side views over the Bay of Naples are picture postcard beautiful, with Vesuvius looming in the distance.

ROOM: We had a garden/pool view room on the 3rd floor with balcony. We found it to be large and sufficient for our needs with plenty of storage for cases/clothes etc. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom, well stocked mini bar, satellite TV and all mod cons (apart from the hairdryer – which was essentially a large hose. We would recommend you bring your own). One issue we had however, is that the walls are incredibly thin, so it can get quite noisy in the evening.

SERVICE: We were picked up at Napoli train station by private transfer (arranged by the hotel for €100), which although expensive, was definitely worth it for the stress free journey from Naples. The front desk staff are lovely, and always happy to help with any query you may have. Aniello, in particular, is perhaps the most cheerful man you will ever meet. The bar/restaurant staff, (particularly Arturo) are also excellent, however, the self-styled Mr “Nobody” with his repetitive shtick, was not our favourite.

AMENITIES: This is a boutique hotel and not a tacky resort, so thankfully there is no animation/entertainment nonsense. Instead you can expect to enjoy piano evenings in the bar or music accompanying your evening dinner. The pool, although relatively small is clean and there are plenty of sun loungers. The private beach can be accessed via the lift and is beautiful. However, it is not really private. It is open to anyone. The only really private area belongs to the hotel next door. You also have to pay for your sun lounger and your umbrella. Being down beside the water though, with the magnificent cliffs looming over you is truly breathtaking. The hotel also offers many excursions and we opted for the trip to Vesuvius & Pompeii. It was a great trip and well worth the €47 each we paid. This did not however include the entrance fees to either attraction, nor did it include lunch.

FOOD: Breakfast was excellent, serving a wide range of continental fare as well some hot food. Lunch is served pool side and had an extensive menu. Everything we had during our stay was delicious. The wood fired, traditional Neapolitan style pizzas were particularly good. During the evening we only dined at the hotel once, for one of the BBQ nights. It was a very pleasant evening, but at €32 per head, it was a bit pricey for what it was. We opted to dine at the local ristorantes and trattorias of Sant’Agnello for most of our trip, and found them to be excellent without exception. You do not need to go into Sorrento in order to dine well, if you stay here.

In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Mediterraneo, and would recommend to anyone, of any age, looking to holiday in the Bay of Naples.

We stayed a couple of weeks ago for a weeks break. The check in was very slick indeed, which really is a good word for this hotel. The lobby area and bar were fabulous and outdoor area by the pool an oasis from the noisy traffic from the front of the hotel. Great restaurant by the pool for lunchtime eating - fantastic pizzas! A shame really they don't consider opening this in the evening so there is a choice for informal dining from the formal restaurant upstairs.

This hotel certainly had the feeling of a boutique hotel, but unfortunately the room let it down for us. Very small, though very well equipped, it just needed brightening up to achieve the ambience of the general areas. The shower was tiny, however there was never a shortage of hot water.

The staff were absolutely superb, always helpful and courteous, especially in the restaurants.

Finally, we thought the location of the hotel was great. We loved the 20 min walk into Sorrento and we liked being out of the main town.

A lovely 4 star hotel, which has been decorated tastefully to a high standard. The restaurant staff were friendly, helpful and polite, without being stuffy. The reception staff were extremely helpful with advice on trips.
We had half board included, which isn't usually what we go for, but it was excellent, with good choices every night. The buffet by the pool one night was also of a high standard, as was the music entertainment.
Views to die for from the bar at sunset. We found it an ideal setting too, just outside of Sorrento, but with a courtesy bus available several times a day, or just a 20 minute walk it wasn't a problem.
We would certainly love to return.

We have just returned from a wonderful week in this hotel, everywhere was spotless, the dining room had wonderful views, and yes lovely white tablecloths. All of the staff were helpful and pleasant. The shower was very small, but always plenty of hot water. Not to be missed was the Amati drive, the views were amazing. Not to be missed was ravello and the gardens, really special..

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool area is very nice win plenty of chairs and a bar. There are a number of sating groups with shade in the back of the hotel property. They also provide comfortable outdoor seating on the front side beside the indoor bar. They offer a happy hour starting at 6:30 with a few light snacks. There is a beach area close by but it's 10 euro to sit out there. The rooms are nice and clean. The showers however, are very small. I dropped the soap and was just barely able to bend over and pick it up. (I'm 5'4" and not overweight). They breakfast buffet is very nice and the dining room is lovely with white tablecloths. The wait staff is very nice.

Room Tip: We had a corner room with a balcony so we had a view of the pool and the M Mediterranean

Good choise in Sorrento. Hotel is located next to beach (shall take elevator). We had seaview room - it can be some loud from street if you are sleeping with open window. The best thing was yacht trip to Capri - in company of 10 hotel guests, price is very good (we had 140 euro per person), excellent service and very clean and new yacht. Also shuttle to Sorrento city was ok (5 min) either you can walk around 20 minutes. The less attractive thing was breakfest - very small choise (except bakery was ok).

Room Tip: Choose seaview room for good view to Vezuvius and Capri. If preffer better sleap, than gardenview is...
