We stayed six nights at this hotel at the end of October 2009. We were very happy with this hotel, and the first view of Vesuvius across the Bay of Naples was a cherished moment for us. The rooms were pretty nice (surprised they are renovating) and very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was nice, but average size. A small shower (like most European hotels - and I am a tall person). The grounds in the back and the pool were very nice, and it was very close to the sea on the front side.

The location ranged from great to satisfactory, depending what you wanted to do. It was handy enough to the Sant'Agnello station of the Circumvesuviana (5 min walk), which was good to catch to Naples, Pompeii, or Herculaneum. There is a shuttle to Sorrento, but I was surprised it seems to only go 2/3 of the way to Sorrento's centre, it is still quite a hike to the ferry to Capri or the bus station to Amalfi / Positano. Sorrento is an excellent base to explore all these places (although Sorrento itself is not that fascinating). We also went to Paestum, by catching the Circumvesuviana to Pompeii Scavi, and walking to the main train station in Pompei (TrenItalia) and taking that to Paestum via Salerno. Paestum was well worth it - no crowds, good value, and beautiful Greek temples.

The breakfast at the restaurant every morning was awesome, a great deal of selection and a fantastic view of the Bay of Naples, Vesuvius, and fresh air on the deck. We were half-board and we felt it was excellent value. Dinners were okay, but we probably would not have went very often had it not been half-board. (The half-board dinners were more appreciated than we expected as we often came back tired, especially the day to Pompeii and the day to Amalfi. It was nice to not have to go looking for a restaurant too).

We would definitely recommend Hotel Mediterraneo to anyone travelling the Sorrento penninsula as a great home base - no complaints! (Unless you are mobility impaired and plan on going to Capri once or twice, then maybe stay in the centre of town instead.)

We got married at Cloisters and had our wedding reception in Mediterraneo hotel. We decided to go for this hotel as I've been reading reviews that it offered fanastic views and the hotel sea view is to die for.

I have to say the garden area is abs spectacular, a lovely pool with loads of comfy lounge chairs with romantic lighting which is perfect for relaxing when the sun goes down. This is where the staff set up our table for our reception. They took care of everything, name cards for each guest, personal menus, flower centrepieces and the wedding cake, etc. The table looked fantastic.

We were slightly worried that the other guests would be walking past us, however the staff had set up a discrete hedge screen and it really felt like our personal room outside. They provided us with our own team of waiters who tended to all our needs. We had picked our own music for during dinner and afterwards and they piped the music through the outdoor speakers. After dinner, they even rearranged our lounge area into a dancefloor. They could not have done more for us.

We stayed there for a week and most of the time we were out and about getting on a bus to sorrento which stops right outside the front of the hotel, we even caught a glimpse of the red tour bus which stops there. There is free shuttle bus which drops you off just outside sorrento (about 5 mins walk to town) so dead handy if you dont fancy getting a bus or forking out for taxis!

This hotel is not in the town with not much to do around the area and it's about 20 mins walk but we didn't mind at all as we were looking for a quieter hotel so that we could relax. When we arrived, we realised it was right on the main road with lots of traffic and were concerned that we would not get a decent good night sleep! But we were amazed how we could not hear any traffic noise when we closed the shutter every night so we were lucky! (we chose to have sea view with balcony).

Every morning in breakfast area - it was abs BEAUTIFUL! The view over the bay was just wow! Our wedding guests were entertained here when we were getting our photos taken. The hotel staff went out of their way to make the day as special as possible.

Our guests commented how glad that they had aperitifs at sea view restaurant where there was gust of cool breaze coming through (it was 32 degrees so as you can imgaine it was very, very hot on the day!)

We could not get over our day as it was just perfect - the attention to detail but relaxed way the hotel dealt with the preparations made our day stress free so that we were able to just have fun and enjoy our wedding day.

We stayed in this hotel in August with 2 toddlers (aged 1.5 & 2.5yrs) This hotel was booked for us by friends as a suprise gift so we had no clue what is was like until we got there! This is a great hotel, the location is not in the heart of Sorrento which we would have prefered but they have a shuttle bus to take you almost anywhere you like, as we had 2 prams one or 2 extra trips were made to pick up us which was very much appreciated. The restaurant had breathtaking views, and the breakfast buffet was great and very fresh. The pool area was fantastic, especially for the kids. The rooms could be updated, they were very simple, we had the honeymoon suite which had a large balcony, this would have been great if we didnt have the kids but we had to keep the balcony door closed as we were afraid they would climb off. I saw the rack rate on the back of the hotel door (385 euro) and I dont think it was worth that price. I would rate it a 3 star hotel with 4 star pool area and restaurant.

The hotel management could not have been more professional, helpful, and personable. They extended themselves in every way to be of assistance, including personally helping a large group deal witha bus strike and providing alternate transportation. The rooms and entire hotel were very clean, well-appointed, and pleasant. The decor was smart and relaxing, and not overly done. The pool area, use of computers, and mini van for nearby access to the downtown center, were all appreciated. Breakfast was great overlooking the water, as were all meals. The area has many wonderful restaurants as well. We loved the quiet and beautiful, yet convenient, setting away from the hustle bustle. Yet it was walkable to all stores, etc Not only did we vacation here last year as well as this year, but we would stay here again, since we love the hotel and we love Sorrento and the environs. Another family of four that we met there was also on a return visit. The local bus was not expensive, and stopped right outside the door. It took you to the main center and the train station. Two nights during the week there was a singer in the lounge and outdoor area. The only suggestion would be to get more value for the dinner selections.

My boyfriend and I had a great 4 night stay here - the hotel is clean and friendly with a fabulous breakfast - we managed to get a table on the terrace every morning and the views were spectacular! A couple of cute restaurants in the village, or Sorrento is a short bus ride away (although the buses are random in arrival times!)

The rooms are fresh and clean and a decent size for Europe. The pool area is lovely, great little bar (expensive with the exchange rate but worth it for a couple of beers) and gorgeous, uncrowded pool.

Worth checking out the private beach - you go down to it in a lift a la James Bond which is exciting! There was plenty to do here for 4 days and I could easily have stayed and relaxed by the pool for a further few! Use public transport to get about, the trains are useful and go everywhere you want them to and the buses are an experience!

We stayed at the Meditteraneo for 3 nights and we wished we had longer. The staff are professional, helpful and very friendly. We were so impressed by their attention to detail and nothing was too much trouble. They even packed us a fantastic breakfast the morning we left as it was 6am. The rooms are clean and beautiful. I would recommend spending a little extra and getting one with a sea view and balcony. One could quite happily spend the night eating in the fabulous restaurant located on the top floor with a view of the bay of Naples. Start off sitting out in the garden and pool area on the comfortable couches dimly lit with glittering lights sipping a drink and eating complimentary snacks from downstairs bar. There is a free shuttle service to and from the village of Sorrento or in 20 minutes you could walk and enjoy the lovely location.
Even the cleaning staff are happy, friendly and so a great job. We thoroughly recommend this hotel!

My husband and I stayed here for the 2nd part of our honeymoon and were looking forward to relaxing after a very busy time in Rome. This hotel did not disappoint. We had a sea view room and the views were simply stunning! Sitting on our balcony each night looking over Sorrento bay and Vesuvius... we couldn't ask for more! The staff on reception were very friendly and helpful as were the bar staff by the pool. The pool was lovely although a shame it 'closed' at 7pm as it would've been nice to be able to go for a dip after a long day sightseeing. The car parking facilities were wonderful and very secure. Only quarm was that you had to pay to use the beach - we didnt bother as they tried to charge 10 euro per person! No thank you.
Location wise - its about 25 min walk from Sorrento so not the easiest of access, especially at night along the slim roads. In the end, we found a fantastic little restaurant around the corner (Moonlight) and so didnt need to dine in the centre as much.
All in all, great hotel with wonderful views, just a shame about the location.
