“A local beauty”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

This is one of those places you struggle every day more to find. They are still living in the middle age atmosphere: they do not have a phone, you cannot make a reservation, they cook almost everything into the very old wood owen wich is just at the entrance. The result is that it is always fully booked. The farinata is excellent, so good It will litterally disappear as soon as It leaves the owen. Other fish dishes we have tried are very simple in terms of recipe but nicely cooked. Price is very good quality/price ratio: there are no dishes above 10€ and the wine is also cheap. Do not expect a 2 michelin stars service, It is most like being at home.

“An old souvenir!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

For sure , the atmosphere has remained but food quality tradition is an old remember!!
Heavy food dressing and low quality wines not acceptable comparing with price and other city genuine restaurant opportunity.

“A super meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2013

I have been to this restaurant many times and it's reaaly typical Ligurian. There is no phone, so you simply go there and wait for a table or book in advance (always in person) for a table in an another room. The style is very simple, but the food is well prepared and as far as I know the white farinata is only made here.

“Great atmosphere in historic centre”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2013

This restaurant is an institution in Savona and is always crowded with lovers of the simple, local cuisine. It is just a few steps from the Pinacoteca Civica and cathedral. On entering the first thing you see is the huge wood oven where the farinata (a delicious local pancake made with chickpea flour) and much of the food is cooked. There are several rooms and the decor is simple. We started our meal with a portion of farinata. I then chose a tasty stew of cuttlefish with peas, while my husband ordered pasta with pesto. We finished by sharing a portion of local fresh white cheese surrounded by Ligurian olives. The meal, accompanied by an excellent bottle of Nero d'Avola from Sicily, came to EUR 28! There is a lot of choice on the menu and the speciality is the local fresh fish. Highly recommended.

“Hair in food! Rude personnel!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2012

II had some awful experience! We found hair in our food! Told that to a waitress, she pretended it was totally normal and we should expect even an apology, let alone money back! Then we had to talk to the manager, who reluctantly admitted that it was not very pleasant to find hair in food O_O
Never again!
