After walking down the narrow streets of Savona we came across this beautiful chapel. What a find ! From the outside it looks like a thousand other chapels but once inside its awe inspiring.
Hardly anyone there when we visited so was able to sit and soak in the atmosphere . We have seen the Sistine Chapel in Rome , overpriced and very busy . This was free and peaceful.

This small impressive chapel is located in the old city of Savona, a few minutes walk from the port area. Its decoration is exquisite and if is definitely worth seeing.

The rococo chapel is beautifully decorated, light and airy with much white and gold. A great bonus is the volunteers who will explain the history and decoration of this magnificent papal chapel.

This is a very special chapel considering there are only 3 of them in the world.
It is worth a visit if you manage to find it open...
I think the extremely rude man (not part of the clergy) who was in charge of the opening hours has been moved to another cultural monument in town and, if that is the case, you will enjoy the visit.
He was extremely rude and had a tendency to yell at tourists (not joking!).

There is no fee at the entrance but you can make a donation to help preserve this amazing part of history.
Beautiful.
