This was our third stay in this traditional stylish pension. It is at the end of Volkenstein, no traffic at all, food is fantastic-five course dinner every night, live entertainment -flute concert at dinner, fantatsic hot and wet sauna with quiet room included in the price, great staff. For families they have two bedroom unit connected with a small hall sharing one spatious bathroom. An entryway into Long Valley -Valleluongo-bucolic place with cow pastures and great starting point fro many hikes. It is suitable for small kids -two playgrounds nearby as well as for moderate and serious hikers -depends on chosen route. Rock climbing training wall nearby

Room Tip: choose superior room or family room if needed. Book early.

On a 16 day trip throughout Italy, only 4 spent in the Dolomites to hike (wish we had 2 weeks for just the mountains)! We prefer B an B style and smaller private locations. 2 nights(Sept 13-14) at Hotel Val, upstairs, fantastic view up the canyon out of our room on the back side. Spacious room, nice bathroom with counter space, nice décor, quiet. A lovely family, with enough English speaking to get by are the owners. The restaurant which also serves the public, has superb food. (for us, 2 breakfasts, 1 dinner which was better than restaurant in town). Nice property to sit in front for sunset or back with canyon view. 5 minute drive to town and worth staying a few streets back of town and higher up away from the main street . We hope to return to the Dolomites and continue our hiking and/or skiing adventures someday and would stay here again. Very centrally located to all the lifts and bus lines.
BTW for first timers to the area... All roads leading to Val Gardena from all directions are spectacular, incredible scenery, hiking and lifts everywhere, and worth renting a car to be able to explore all.

Room Tip: There is no traffic on this almost private road, so all rooms are quiet and have balconies or views...

My wife and I spent a pleasant week at Hotel Val in June 2012. Our room was comfortable, with a view of Selva and the valley below. The meals were good and the Mussner family were welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed the weekly meditation session that was available to guests.

Our family of six enjoyed a wonderful June vacation at the Val, nestled in the most beautiful location of Selva di Val Gardena. Miriam, Bruna, Ilede, and their family and staff made us feel so welcome by their hospitality and kindness. My husband and I were with our son and his family, so they arranged for us to have rooms next to each other with an adjoining balcony - a great spot to relax and talk about that day's adventures - one of the many exciting hikes in the majestic Dolomites, the delicious lunches in the Huttes along the trails, or the thrilling chairlift and funicular rides to various peaks throughout the valley - a hiker's paradise! And we always looked forward to their finely prepared dinners at the end of our day - homemade pastas, streudels, gnocchi, wienerschnitzel, fresh salads and vegetables, minestrone, and of course the best Pinot Grigio from the Alto Adige! The Mussner family was always available to help with suggestions, maps, and brochures about specific hiking areas, and other guests would share their tips as well. The whole atmosphere made us feel like we were at home with a big family, and for that we give Hotel Val the
highest recommendation!!

We stayed at Val from 18 to 24 June 2012. The location is excellent because in all directions hikes can be made. Very quiet as well because nearly no traffic on the smalll road next to the hotel. Very kind family Muessner and the cook knows what good food is... So, in a nut shell this hotel can be highly recommended.

This is truly a hidden gem! Miriam and her family run a very nice albergo with family atmosphere. The dinners are the best part of our stay, professionally cooked and we received way more value than what we pay for it (dinner included in room rates)
Miriam and her mum and aunties are very friendly, although only Miriam speaks English. However that did not pose a problem at all. I highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to experience family style accommodation with privacy and excellent food!

We were a little apprehensive about booking our stay at Albergo Val because there were no reviews in English, but we ended up having a perfect stay. One of the best things about this hotel is the family that owns it. They are incredibly nice people and made us feel welcome. One of them, Miriam, speaks very good English, and the rest of the family speak German and Italian, and a little English, but they made every effort to understand us, so the language was never a problem.
Our room was large enough for three people, decorated with pine wood furniture, and had a balcony with a mountain view. The bathroom looked like it was recently remodeled and was spotless.
The chairlift Val was a short walk from the hotel, and from there we could ski down to the chairlift Danterceppies, which connected us to Sella Ronda.
Breakfasts at the hotel were simple and satisfying, and dinners were absolutely delicious! We especially liked the Italian and Tyrolean specialties. One night we were served big zeppelin-shaped dumplings that were the best comfort food we've ever had, and we asked for the name of the dish, and Miriam was gracious enough to share her recipe with us.
The rest of the guests during our stay were German and Italian families with young children , so the place was very quiet at night.
If you're looking for a perfect week in a beautiful setting and fantastic meals every day, you can't go wrong at Albergo Val.
