I was pleasantly surprised by this place, popular with locals. The beef carpaccio and particularly the barley soup were delicious. So was the home made gnocci albeit the portion was a bit too big!

We had dinner at the Costabella while skiing for a week in Selva - the dinner started well and the ambience is good and the menu seemed ok, very traditional for Val Gardena - one of our party had the
Penne Arrabiata which was so over spiced it could not be eaten - everyone tried it and agreed it was inedible which was a shame - when it was mentioned it (the plate was virtually untouched) we were told that the chef came from Sicily and that it was fully authentic - it was taken off the bill but this did somewhat spoil the evening - we would like to return but given there are better places like La Bula or Freina this is unlikely

No' 14 in trip advisor list, but should be 30. Mix salad with canned corn, the venison meet dish was cold and hard chewing, The Curry breast chicken was very mediocre. The bread and the beer was good. There are plenty good restaurant in Selva. This one is not one of them.

We had a very enjoyable and tasty meal, freshly prepared and well presented. Speaking in English was no problem and service was attentive but relaxed. I particularly enjoyed the bread, ravioli, salad and apple strudel. We enjoyed this much more than the restaurants located more centrally in Selva.
