We were in a catered chalet over half term, and on the hosts night off we chose the Costabella as our eaterie for the night.
The service was very efficient, and we were seated and watered in minutes, the waiting staff were friendly and attentive without you feeling you were overstaying your welcome at the end of the meal.
We were a group of 5, and were all very pleased with the food quality and quantity. I had a calzone and salad which was very good, and others had pizzas, which were huge, thin crust (I have been told by a local that that is the only base on which to serve pizza) and full of toppings.
All were reasonably priced, cheaper than take away pizza in the UK, and drinks were comparable to prices around the village.
Only small thing was, there is no tap water available, you have to buy bottled, but having said that, we will definitely be returning to further explore the Costabella menu.

Warm service and tasty pizza. Nice selection of wines and dessert wines. Didn't require a reservation which was a bonus!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place, popular with locals. The beef carpaccio and particularly the barley soup were delicious. So was the home made gnocci albeit the portion was a bit too big!

We had dinner at the Costabella while skiing for a week in Selva - the dinner started well and the ambience is good and the menu seemed ok, very traditional for Val Gardena - one of our party had the
Penne Arrabiata which was so over spiced it could not be eaten - everyone tried it and agreed it was inedible which was a shame - when it was mentioned it (the plate was virtually untouched) we were told that the chef came from Sicily and that it was fully authentic - it was taken off the bill but this did somewhat spoil the evening - we would like to return but given there are better places like La Bula or Freina this is unlikely
