“Christmas skiing in Europe remains perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 January 2014

First the bad to get it out of the way. The dining room and bed rooms are too hot! Open the windows and doors and cool the place down! We slept with the balcony door open. Unfortunately at 3:00 a.m. I was awoken each night by the drunks coming back from the disco. I thought they were stopped just below my window for extended discussions. Instead I saw that they were hanging out in the parking lot of the apartment building behind the hotel for their extended drunken banter. I think the mountains act as a kind of amphitheater amplifying the sound. I would have told them to be quite but I doubt they would have understood me. Lastly, the ski storage lockers need to be replaced. They are confusing to use and most guests place their skis and poles in improperly making it more difficult for other guests.

Now, excepting for above, I am still giving Aaritz an excellent rating. Our party of 10 (two families with teenage children had an outstanding 8 night stay over Christmas. Hotel management, Suzi is an excellent hotelier. She is on site from morning to night making sure that everyone is well satisfied. Fabio (at the front desk) Daniele (at the bar) and Sergio, our server at dinner made sure that everyone wanted for nothing. We enjoyed playing trivial pursuit in Italian with drinks after dinner in the beautiful lobby area. It didn't matter that we don't speak Italian. Breakfast buffet had so many choices with eggs as you want them. Dinners were outrageous! Five course meals with each course more delicious than the previous. So many choices and off menu choices for the kids. Bar bill for drinks during the week and wines at dinner was one-half what we paid in Zermatt two years prior, and yet despite my best intentions my drinking was not less.

The rooms were clean and decently appointed. The shower was a bit tight. The wellness center was great fun after skiing. The pool, saunas and relaxing in these fantastic reclining chair hit the spot after skiing. The hotel is situate across from the gondola. Very convenient. If I have an opportunity to get back to Selva I will definitely return to the Aaritz.

I loved this hotel. We travelled with friends, each family with three teenagers. The Aaritz is perfectly located, right in the centre of town and across the street from the main gondola. The food is fantastic. Each morning we were treated to a generous breakfast buffet and each night we were treated to memorable 5 course meals. The service was superb. If there was anything that the kids wanted that was not on the menu, the chef was happy to prepare for them, One evening when my son was sick in our room, Susy(the owner) came to our table to see if we would like to have soup sent up to him. This was without our asking, and illustrates how well we were taken care of. The spa is stunning with a beautifully designed pool and wellness area enhanced by incrediable lighting. The hotel rooms are simple but very clean and comfortable. The lobby, bar space and dining room are very well appointed and extremely inviting. We would go down to the bar each night for a cocktail before dinner, and it was always a treat, Chirstmas eve was a very special evening with a beautiful cocktail party before dinner, and lovely dinner and activities after. The only issue i had was that the dining room got very hot during dinner time.

We have stayed here once, though frequently visited this hotel. The hotel is in a great location, opposite one of the main ski-lifts of the Sella Ronda. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the hotel has a cosy atmosphere. Dinner is excellent, although there are so many great restaurants on the pistes where you can have terrific lunches, you have to make a lot of down-hill kilometers to compensate.
Service in the hotel is all over great. Swimming pool area and spa are very nice to relax after a day of hard work on the pistes.

My wife and I spent 10 nights during August this year at hotel Aaritz. We used it as a base for a walking holiday, and found the location perfect for either walks direct from the hotel, or travelling by bus to surrounding areas. It is situated directly opposite the cable car to the top of the mountain with spectacular views.
The hotel itself is immaculate, with staff who are keen to assist with every query. Suzi, the hotel owner, is always on-hand with a friendly smile and helpful advice. (All the staff seemed able to speak several languages - including English! - very well).
During the summer, food in the hotel is limited to breakfast - which is superb. There is a choice of just about anything with hot, or buffet-syle selections. The Aaritz does have a cafe, where drinks and light meals are available, but there are so many good cafes and restaraunts in Selva, you are spoilt for choice.
The rooms are spacious and well-equipped, and exceptionally well-serviced. The only drawback we could find was that there was no air-conditioning, however the weather was unusually hot during this period. The spa facilities (indoor pool, sauna, relaxation room, gym etc) are amazing and we used them on a regular basis.
This was a very enjoyable and memorable holiday, and I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for a week at the Hotel Aaritz at the beginning of August, part of a package booked via Inghams. This family run hotel is exceptional. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. All the staff, from the maids to the owner, were very friendly and helpful (as well as being fluent in at least 4 languages!). Breakfast was excellent quality, with good choices. We were provided with a packed breakfast to take to the airport as our departure time was very early. My family really appreciated the hotel facilities too, a lovely swimming pool and spa with spectacular views of the high Dolomiti peaks. Again spotlessly clean and well maintained. Cannot recommend highly enough and we hope to be back.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel will be quieter. Ours were at the front, with a balcony, however the...

I cannot praise this hotel enough. I have visited many hotels and this has to be one of the best.

Having read previous comments, which referred mainly to winter visits, I wondered if the level of service declined in the "less busy" summer periods. Nothing could be further from the truth. All aspects of this hotel are top class and this is primarily shown in the level of service that we received from ALL the hotel staff. Susi who runs the hotel is a human dynamo, always present, always time for a quick chat to see if there is anything further she can do for you. It was also amazing to be greeted by all the staff with a smile when asking them for something - everyone working in this hotel appeared to be happy! A most pleasant experience.

The only neutral comment I make is that the WiFi signal regularly dropped in and out but if access to the internet is a major holiday requirement then perhaps the beautiful Dolomites are not for you.

We have just stayed in the Aaritz and I can't praise it enough. The location is excellent in Selva directly opposite the cable car, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, Suzi runs the hotel fabulously and is always smiling and will have a chat regardless of how busy she is. The rooms are well furnished, excellent decor and a pristine bathroom. We had a room on the front with wonderful views from the front and side balcony. The breakfast offers everything you could wish for, I will definitely stay in this hotel when I go back to Selva.

Room Tip: It was our wedding anniversary and the hotel gave us a fabulous room and a bottle of champagne.
