This was our second stay at the hotel - party of two families in two adjacent apartments. We came back because even though it is reasonably pricey, with a 3hr transfer from Milan, it just ticks all the boxes for us, 2 large bedrooms, good storage, 2 bathrooms, large living/kitchen area, with tv/DVD ( everyone brings their one fave film), dishwasher, fridge, microwave and 2 ring hob. Has 2 restaurants - hotel rest and large pizzeria plus 2 bars. We ate in about 50% and wandered down to the fab pizzeria in our slippers for the rest - they even brew their own beer. There is a heated outdoor pool which we used everyday looking up at the stars and a jacuzzi/steam area (located on a diff floor). There is a well stocked supermarket right next door, so everything in easy distance for self catering. As others have mentioned it is a scrupulously clean and well presented cozy hotel with helpful staff. My one complaint is the 30e per week for internet access (limited to one device at any one time) - seems uneccessary and expensive, given the flat rate for bb in italy is between 25- 80e per month and surely they also use it to run their own business? However a minor gripe really. For skiing, a huge vast area awaits but be aware there is a fair bit of travel involved, boot room outside in an adjacent garage and bus stops outside the door - you are no more than 10mins away from Selva or ortisei ( bus tickets 7e for week) and beware, the inspector got on every bus we took!! Busses get very crowded, so need to cram on or wait another 15mins. Ski school is a 10 min schlep downhill, nearest ski lift same route plus ski across a field to 2 man lift up to explore Monte Pana or get the bus to the very beautiful area of Seiser Alm. Nearest Gondola again 5-10 mins downhill to Ciampino gondola and on to Plan de Gralba, or get the underground railway to framolin. We skiied the Sela Ronda ( suggest anti clockwise to avoid the crowds) and we love Sieser Alm, but our best day was skiing over to Armentorola, on to the hidden valley with the horse drawn 'drag' at the end ....needs to be experienced to be believed!! All in all a great holiday in a great location. Après ski bars are family friendly - Snow Bar at the Ciampino Gondola or Luiskeller in Selva.
