We chose this family run hotel mainly because of its direct access to the nursery slopes where my daughters would be making their skiing debuts.
This made life very easy for them in the first few days, though the graduation to more tricky slopes involves a walk and possibly a bus as the Selva area has no longer blues or easy reds accessible from the nursery slopes.
The staff at the Serena are welcoming and friendly and will do their best to accommodate anything you require. 'Billy' the transylvanian waiter was a particular hit, with his intelligent humour, making our evening meal a real pleasure. The food is generally good, the 'buffet style' starters being particularly tasty. In fact, you could easily manage on just those, though quite often there are another four courses coming along. Dessert time created much amusement, with another buffet type arrangement. The antics of both the children and some of the adults in treating the mass food grab as more of a scrum than a relaxed evening meal was entertainment in itself.
To emphasise how caring the staff are, they prepared a delicious personalised birthday cake for me, having spotted my birthday from my passport! I'm not sure you would get that kind of attention in a 5 star hotel.
