Skiing in the Dolomites is extraordinary experience (because of unusual beauty Dolomit's rocks), but skiing throught Sella Ronda (whouse Passo Sella is one part) is a real chalenge. Try it!

This has got to be the most bizarre high mountain lift in the world. The ride starts at the lift station in Passo Sella ( which you can assess by the free Val Gardena bus ) and ends at the true Passo Sella, a gap between Sasso Longo and Sasso Piatti, two famous Dolomite Peaks. At the top, you can hike down through the pass to the other side and circumnavigate the mountains or do some meadow hiking before riding another, more ordinary lift to Ortisei or Santa Cristina. What's so special about this lift is the shape. It looks like a phone booth suspended on a cable. There is room for two people to stand. The other funny thing is accessing it. You and your fellow rider stand side by side at the entry, and when the car comes close, the lift operator opens the door, tells the person in front to grab a handle and jump in, while he pushes. This is quickly repeated with the second person. The door is slammed shut, and you are quickly rising above the rocky terrain. The cable car never stops. The views are astounding. You can also ride down.

Beautiful views, lots of walking/hiking tracks. Accessible by motorbike, car, campervan, pushbike. Within walking distance of Selva, but also bus service.

This was probably the most spectacular pass that we visited out of about six or more in this area. Plenty of hiking trails. Roads were reasonably wide and not too busy.

Its easy to get here as there is a frequent free bus service from Selva. Once you are here you have a choice of walks or can take the Coffin lift to the the top of the Joch in the middle of the Salunga mountain for an even more adventurous walk.
