“Great value for on the beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 September 2013

We stayed at Senigllia to break up our trip to Pescara. Hotel was clean and tidy and right on the beach. Room was small but adequate and close to the best seafood restaurant in Italy too.
For €99 it's hard to beat, breakfast was complimentary and good too.

Room Tip: Get sea view

We stayed just for one night in May, before "season". The hotel is well situated, across the street from the beach, and a 10 minute (or so) walk to town and a bit further to the other side of the marina. We were happy to find the hotel's(no charge) ample parking lot adjacent to the hotel.
The Universal is clean, sleek and modern. Our room and bathroom were adequately equipped (but quite small), and had a lovely balcony facing the sea. The people at the front desk are helpful and charming, A varied and abundant breakfast buffet was available, and the staff was happy to prepare individual requests (soft boiled eggs) that were not included in the buffet. We enjoyed our stay, but would think that the charm in visitng was doing so in the off season.

If travelling to / from Ancona this is a very good place to stay at a very reasonable price (although it would appear to be expensive in high season).

We arrived late but the restaurant was able to stay open and provided a very good help yourself meal. The room was well laid out and had some style as well as being extremely clean.

All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

It was the cheapest hotel we stayed in on a 6 day trip and was definitely the best!

Room Tip: Facing the beach

We arrived here after 3 days in Venice. What a fab hotel. Nothing too much trouble. We upgraded our room for a nominal amount per night. Our balcony was HUGE although the room was slightly small, bathroom was lovely though! We overlooked the sea. The restaurant wasn't open due the the earliness of the season, but we were given a 10% voucher for some restaurants nearby. The sunloungers on the beach are free and ive never seen such large loungers. Brilliant. Stayed 3 nights it was so lovely.

Room Tip: Upgrade to one of the refurbished rooms. It's well worth the extra.

The Hotel is lovely: modern, clean and well kept with a great location across from the sea and beautiful beach.
We received the best welcome we have ever had from Eddy and were shown to our room. Do ask for an upgrade room - they are warm, clean, modern and have an excellent shower! The TV has no English channels just Italian and German! The breakfast was good with a selection of cold food (including cold sausages and scambled egg although they were in a heated cabinet!). A lovley lady asks what you would like to drink (just learn a bit of Italian because she doesn;t speak any English!)

However, a few gripes! The sauna and steam room which were hoping to use (we chose this hotel because of the facilities!) were part of a different concern and cost 13 euros each for 45 mintues! There was no juccuzi as the photos may show. The treatments of course were outrageous prices starting at £40. The gym was free but we were told by Eddy and a member of the spa that it was free but anotehr receptionist that it was 80 euros per day! We didn't use it!
In October the hotel was lovely and warm and we were able to use the free bikes but most of the other hotels and restaurants were closed for the season and there wasn;t much to do in the evening. You had to walk about 15 minutes into town to find restaurants across the port area.

You could visit Ancona by bus and we went to Rimini by train - easy to use and cheap!
Just find the bus and train station in town and practise some Italian! Not many people spoke English!

Overall and lovely but I would think that in summer it would be heaving, noisy (road in front of hotel and railway at the back) and very crowded. The hotel restaurant was closed in October

Good value for money

Well, what can we say apart from... superb location, outstanding service and in general a fabulous hotel. Six adults including our 8 month old grand-daughter stayed for 7 nights at Hotel Universal.

Directly opposite the hotel (10 metres away) is the beautiful golden sandy beach and sea. Sun loungers and umbrellas all provided by the hotel on their private section of the beach. They have their own private beach facilities including a play area for children. Yards away are the impressive marina and the small fishing port opposite the historic town centre of Senigallia.

Free pick up and drop off service from Ancona airport (only 20 minutes transfer time too!) so no need to hire a car, also the hotel is perfectly located near the town centre with free bicycles provided by the hotel.

Food was excellent; the continental breakfast was not your usual continental breakfast. They had a huge choice including hot food such as scrambled eggs, sausages and boiled eggs, stewed apples in jam and many more delicious things including jam doughnuts and even ice cream! Yes ice cream!

We were even more surprised to have found next to the main restaurant a designated area specifically for babies with a feeding facility, toys, high chairs, leather chairs etc.
The hotel even provided “bottle warmers” that you could take to your room for the duration of the holiday, a pram for our little daughter (so no need to drag one through the airport) and FREE baby food, yes FREE! And a huge choice of baby food at that! They have microwave facilities, bottle warmer high chairs etc, and all available 24/7 free of charge.

Lovely modern gym with ample gym apparatus and a full size ping pong table. There was even a sauna too although I didn’t use this!

Rooms were big with comfy beds with balcony overlooking the sea front, TV, safe, mini bar and telephone.

Spotless right the way through and it appears to be wheelchair friendly as there are ramps around the hotel to the front reception area and lift.

The attention we received from all of the employees was outstanding. Everybody was always very obliging, helpful and friendly. The attitude of the employees made our holiday even more enjoyable.

We have never come across such a pleasant and professional hotel and we have stopped at many 4 and 5 star hotels in the past! Highly recommendable, good value for money, we will defiantly use again when in the Marche region of Italy! Will just quickly use this review to say a big thank you to all the employees at Universal! Perfecto!
