“Very very nice”

Incredible hikes and good ferrata, as are many other mountaiuns around there. If too long for you, take tram to mid-way rifugio.

“The dolomitic jewel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2013

The Croda Rossa di Sesto ((Italian: Croda Rossa di Sesto or Cima Dieci ; German: Sextener Rotwand or Zehner) is a wonderful dolomitic mountain situated among some of the most beautiful peaks of the Alps, in the famous group of the Dolomiti di Sesto.
The spectacular views, the picturesque towers, the impressive rests of the First World War, the relatively “easy” access of its summit make this dolomitic jewel one of the most popular mountains of its group.
The north side is much frequented, because of the cableway that takes you from Bad Moos on the beautiful green plateau on the northern slopes called Prati di Croda Rossa at almost 2000 m. The beauty of this place it’s almost incomparable, where you can enjoy a classic dolomitic view. The ideal starting point for various hikes and climbing paths. Choose between a comfortable valley hike, fascinating alpine paths and round tours of the renowned peaks of the Sesto Dolomites.
You can choose route 100 where a good path twists its way through the rocky outcrops and pine trees gaining height all the time up the Coston di Croda Rossa, a very fine ridge, with fantastic views of the valley below opening up between the rocky spires. Then you can use „via normale“ to the summit (easy via ferrata on the north side, much frequented in the summer months, great views of the Dolomiti di Sesto) or continue through the Anderter Alpe ,visit the open-air museum Great War Rotwand and descend to the Talschlusshütte in the romantic Val Fiscalina. On the northern side some years you can find snow until July.
The views from the summit of the Croda Rossa di Sesto are really fantastic, even I will never be able to recognize all the summits that you can see from there.
The south side towards the Vallon Popera is still quite wild, but maybe is even more beautiful. The main reason of this wilderness is the lack of easy routes for the mountains of the valley. If you want to climb the Croda Rossa from Vallon Popera you have to be at least a via ferrata expert, because the easiest route is the very difficult via ferrata Zandonella.
In the evening you can visit a concert at the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks

“Nice ski spot, though not big”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 January 2013

It is a nice mountain to ski, but with not too many slopes, I would say about 6-8, but with varying degrees of difficulty.
