“Villa Paradisino, our 'Crown Jewel'”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

We were a group of 7 women looking for a ‘Tuscan experience’, Villa Paradisino was the ‘crown jewel’ of our trip. The location, 20 minutes by foot from the train station made it ideal since we only rented a car for a few days. Besides the architecture and charm of the villa, what was most appealing were the two sisters who run the place, Constanza and Serena. Both were friendly, knowledgable, professional and made us all feel welcome the moment we arrived.
They assisted with everything from planning our days, taking us on nearby excursions and recommending restaurants to helping me find a doctor when I had an allergic reaction to a mosquito bite. Looking back, had we realized the extent of the services they provided we wouldn’t have rented cars, instead we’d have relied on their recommendations and assistance in visiting some of the more remote areas we stayed in like Volterra and the Cinque Terre.
Overall, our stay was magical. Some of the highlights were: a pizza party shared with visitors from other countries, a cooking class using organic veggies from the villa’s garden, a perfect viewing experience of a magnificent fireworks display in the nearby town of Sesto Fiorentina and an all day excursion to a Tuscan winery.
We cannot recommend Villa Paradisino enough! We all dream of returning one day, bellissoimo!

We recently returned from a two week trip to Italy and spent our last four nights at Villa Il Paradisino. Having visited and stayed in central Florence, we wanted a new experience but still be close enough to go into Florence.
The Villa was absolutely perfect and we are so thrilled to have stayed there! Set in the middle of Sesto Fiorentino, this is a 15th century walled villa that has been under the care and management of the same family since 1839.
Walking through the tall iron gates was stepping back in time - a 13 acre working farm, beautiful gardens, stunning villa where the family still lives and the "Nobleman House" where careful restoration of four fabulous apartments (that can be configured to accommodate many arrangements) are rented to fortunate travelers. Beautifully furnished with antiques, some with large engraved stone fireplaces and include all amenities. We opted for a one bedroom without kitchen. It was huge along with an enormous bath - not to mention an extremely comfortable king bed and fantastic rain forest shower. Heaven after a great day of sightseeing,
Costanza and her sister Serena are such caring hostesses! Costanza (who is expecting!) is so accommodating and we immediately felt like we had known her all our lives. She and Serena also give cooking lessons at the villa - we reserved an evening for one of their special dinners in the main home - amazing is putting it mildly. To visit and tour the villa, hear the many stories of their generations of family was incredibly interesting. And, the meal - a traditional Tuscan meal of family dishes - from "soup to nuts" was delicious and exquisite. Serena is completing her studies to become a naturopath and they will soon be able to offer massages, holistic programs, vegetarian cooking classes and more. Costanza also made reservations for us at two of the best restaurants we ate in on our entire trip. Oh, they also produce their own wines and olive oil. Outstanding!!! We wished we could have brought some home but only vacationed with carry-on luggage so we made sure we got our fill while at the villa!
Villa Il Paradisino is an absolutely perfect location to use as a home base for touring. We didn't have a car, but the train station was just an easy 15 minute walk. Florence center is just 15 minutes by train, Lucca an hour. We wanted to visit Bologna, but didn't have time. A family of 5 from Scotland was staying in the 3 BR apt and let me have a peek. Wow! What a home away from home (perfect for family or couples) complete with a huge kitchen and an enormous patio for outdoor dining. They had a car which was parked inside the villa gates and made the easy drive to Lucca and other areas.
We can't say enough about this very special family and this fairy tale villa - cannot wait to return!
Mille Grazie, Costanza and Serena, for taking such good care of us to create the perfect experience ever!

We don't really have anything to compare this to, price-wise, and so cannot give an objective view on value - but we absolutely love the place. Costanza and her sister, Serena, are devoted to ensuring you get the best out of your stay. We have stayed twice in Il Melograno and love the way the living room joins seamlessly with the courtyard and we never wanted to shut the doors. The bathroom is brilliant, fluffy soft towels, robes etc. There is lovely crockery, cutlery, pans etc and sharp knives that actually cut the brilliant fresh vegetables you can buy everywhere. Highlights of our trip were the winery Renzo Marinai and lunch in Valpoia. This place is perfect for Florence (12 mins on the train) and away from the hordes of tourists, the heat and the dust. Dinner with the family is pricey, but well worth it for the privilege of being in the house with its amazing artefacts. The olive oil is to die for!

We have just finished a one week stay at Villa Il Paradisino and we were hugely impressed by the quality of the accommodation and the warm welcome we received from Costanza and Serena. The apartment was great, the grounds are very beautiful with flowers, vines and olive trees. The wine and olive oil from the villa is excellent. Getting into Florence by train is very easy and exploring the Tuscany using this location as a base is convenient we drove to Lucca, San Gimignano, Pisa and Viareggio. We also had a wonderful Tuscan dinner prepared by Costanza one of the evenings during our stay which was fantastic.

Room Tip: We stayed in the three bedroom apartment which had a fantastic kitchen and huge master bedroom.

We wanted to be near Florence and have a charming villa experience. Villa Il Paradisino fit the requirements and met all the expectations we had after reading the glowing reviews. It is not possible to review this agritourismo/villa without talking about the impact that Costanza and Serena had on our holiday experience. Serena picked us up at the airport, took us on a tour of the villa grounds, assisted with our cooking class, and rescued our "lost in cyberspace" train tickets. Costanza printed out train schedules to Florence and Siena, arranged for a private tour guide for our walking tour of Florence and a day trip visiting small villages in Tuscany that included a family winery tour, taught a joyfull and delicious afternoon cooking class, and offered beautifully prepared breakfasts in her family villa. We treasure the memory of our time spent picking vegetables on the working organic farm and garden, seeing pomegranates, apples and lemons growing near our terrace, and the opportunity to meet Serena and Costanza's parents.
We did not have a car so we made the 15 minute walk to and from the train station many times ... we felt that the exercise allowed us to rationalize eating the amazing pasta and gelato we so enjoyed in Sesto and in Florence.
The perfect Italian experience.

A group of old college friends, myself, my husband and our one year old son stayed here for several days in May 2012. I cannot express how amazing our stay was at Il Paradisino!

After several days in Rome, we made the relatively quick trip via train to Florence, and then took a taxi to the Villa. We stayed in several of the apartments. Its a quick walk to a local supermarket, where we loaded up on bread, cheese, and meats, and made ourselves some tasty meals in our kitchen, but we also took advantage of Serena and Costanzas hospitality and had dinner as group in the big house one evening. We got to pick from several items on the menu and had, hands down, the best meal we had during our entire Italian vacation.

The grounds are stunning with flowers, olive trees and grape vines throughout the property and a small above ground pool if you are there in the summer. We were able to have some of the house wine and olive oil- delicious!

Communication before the trip was outstanding as well - Costanza and Serena weer lovely hosts, and if I ever go back to Italy again, it will be to stay at only Villa Il Paradisino!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Gelso and Limonaia suites - lovely!

Everything you read in the other reviews is true! I cannot speak highly enough about this beautiful place and the genuine warmth and hospitality of Costanza and Serena. Myself, my husband and our daughters aged 19, 21 and 24 all agree that this was a truly special holiday that we will never forget. We spent two weeks staying in La Loggetta, a delightful, authentically restored apartment, with beautiful fittings and antique furniture. It was perfect for us as it had a triple bedroom and a double, both with their own gorgeous bathrooms. One can totally understand why the Villa is called 'little paradise'. The grounds are tranquil and perfect to explore, relax or sunbathe in. We loved being able to cool off in the pool or wander in the kitchen garden to pick tomatoes and herbs for our meals and enjoy luscious, freshly picked peaches most mornings for breakfast. Sesto railway station is only a 15min walk away and is very convenient for getting to Florence and other destinations such as Lucca (highly recommended). We also visited San Gimignano and Fiesole by bus from Florence. (Car hire is not essential at all when staying here, in fact we enjoyed being free of the hassle of driving and finding a place to park!)
Costanza and Serena are delightful, friendly and incredibly helpful and by the end of the holiday they felt like family friends. Here are some examples of their professionalism and kindness:
We were met at the airport at 10.30pm by Serena, who, during the drive back asked if we were hungry after our journey. When I said yes, she rang a local restaurant to ask if they could do take away pizzas for us and we took a short detour to collect them. When we arrived at the villa, and took our luggage up to our apartment, Serena said she would leave us to eat our pizzas (which were fantastic!) and would return later to show us how to use the air con, the cooker, the safe etc, even though she must have been tired herself, as it was nearly midnight by this time.
We did not hire a car for our 2 week stay, as we planned to get around using local trains and buses (very easy, reliable and not expensive!). There are 2 small supermarkets within walking distance of the Villa, but early on during our stay, Serena took me in her car to a larger one, where I could do a 'big' shop. She was very patient and helpful, translating words for me and telling me about the best products to buy, including the best Prosecco I've tasted!
Costanza and Serena are always around to help with anything you might need, for instance, pre booking tickets for museums, or recommending good restaurants or bars, or lesser known attractions to visit.
Booking a taxi to the airport for our return flight was efficiently arranged by Costanza.
Nothing was too much trouble for these delightful people, who clearly love providing outstanding hospitality and facilities to their guests.
I cannot recommend them or their beautiful place highly enough!
