We found Ca'di Ferae on day 2, after the obligatory Google search following typical tourist trash fayre on the day of arrival. Being only a short walk from our hotel we wandered through the streets of Sestri in search of what others had spoken so highly of. We were welcomed by Freddi, a warm smile and a brace of English menus each providing choices from the sea for those fish lovers, and an equally varied selection from the land. Not an extensive menu, but well-balanced catering for even the most discerning of palate. Live music only added to the atmosphere and the culinary experience, an evening which for which we would have gladly paid more of a premium for. Two days later we returned with high expectations. The local market had set up base camp in the outlying streets and the restaurant to expanded its frontage in to the road to take full advantage of the higher foot fall. This time we sat outside, taking in both the market atmosphere and the solo guitarist revelling in his supporting role. This time, in addition to the menu we had enjoyed only two days earlier, we were also offered a set menu drawing on the produce local to the area. Again the experience was great, and had we not felt embarrassed to return every night, we surely would have done. A true oasis in a sea of Sestri mediocrity - hopefully one which many will enjoy over the course of this summer, and for many more. Well done Freddi and Muzzy!
