Classic grandeur. We had a lovely sea view room for which of course we paid handsomely. Probably needed updating a bit, ie bathroom not enough shelving and rusty radiator, mattress too small for the bed, all rather dated but on the whole lots of charm and atmosphere. Clean enough and good enough and rooms enormous compared to those in back block. Bar and bar staff excellent with loads of nibbles arriving with each drink; inside and out. Beach across the road, swimming pool and plenty of parking with attractive function rooms. The only let down for me was the restaurant; the food was mostly good enough (catering for a large party) the choice was limited and to be quite honest it was like having school dinners. We were squeezed into an alcove on large tables which made it impossible to get in and out easily; the waiting staff treated us mostly like children and were very abrupt; the ambience in the dining room was non existent with harsh bright lighting and the tables were never cleared properly; breakfast was a nightmare with repeated requests to clear table ignored and replenishments for buffet slow in coming. Appreciate difficulty in catering for large groups but not impressed. Reception and porterage exceptional. No tea making facilities in room - take your own. Loved Sestri Levante and would use again.

Friendly knowledgable staff, good cuisine, excellent facilities. Bedrooms were large and furnished well but we could have done with the air conditioning being switched on!! Swimming pool was a great asset.

Spent a relaxing yoga weekend break at Villa Balbi. The hotel is located on the seafront, close to all amenities and a short walk to the train station which offers regular services to the breathtaking Cinque Terre. Very clean and friendly staff. Fab swimming pool too!

This has been my third visit to this hotel and will come back again just love this place! An amazing XVII century villa that makes you feel like you travel back intime yet in modern comfort! The standard are always high! From the amazing organic breakfast served by a team of extremely professional yet always smiley and friendly staff! To the amazing location right in the centre and by the beach. Reception staff are second to none always available to help with a big smile!
I could not recommend this hotel more!

We stayed here for two nights with our kids in June and thoroughly enjoyed using the hotel as a home base for our visit to the area. You feel as if you are entering a museum when you walk into the lobby. The staff was attentive and polite. We had two rooms, each with its own bathroom. The rooms were fine but seem a bit dated and could use some new furniture. I will say that the airconditioning worked well as it was very warm during our visit. There is an acttive restaurant scene just outside the front doors so plenty of good dining options. The breakfast was about what you would expect and there is a lovely pool in the back of the property. We also spent time on the beach which is across the street. You have access as a guest to a small beach club and can rent chairs and an umbrella. Don't sit too close to the water as there were quite a few people walking the beach and constantly asking if we wanted to buy something. There is a small grill at the beach and we enjoyed some great lunches. The hotel is an easy walk from the train station and it is only a short ride to Cinque Terre. Overall a very nice place that we would recommend to others.
