We select this hotel in Sestri Levanto as a base to explore Cinque Terre and Portofino. Actually it's located in Riva, a charming little town located outside SL and worth a visit by itself. There is private parking spaces, the rooms are clean with very good wifi access and the breakfast is good.
The service is very friendly, with personal attention typical of a family run business. Overall, the H. Miriam is a good value and is recommended.
How to get to Cinque Terre from H.Miriam: ask the owner to drive you to the railway station in SL ( he'll pick you back there). Buy return ticket to Riomaggiore, the farthest of the CT villages from SL. Before boarding, validate the ticket in the blue machine: you have 6 hrs to get to Riomaggiore, and you can hop-in and hop-off at any station on your way (the same for your return trip). In june when we visited, the trail from Riomaggiore to Manorala was closed. We did the Monterosso to Corniglia trail. It's a bit strenuous but the vista is spectacular (don't start the walk from Corniglia: you'll have to climb a steep flight of stairs from the Corniglia station to the village).
