Good base for a walking holiday in Cinque Terre. On seafront, close to all local amenities and train station.
Very friendly staff. Good food and good wine, reasonably priced.
Bathroom quite cramped but well equipped

We drove from our daughter's home in southern France (Mouans-Sartoux) with the idea of spending two-three days visiting the Cinque Terre, the renowned five villages on Italy's Ligurian coast. Christine suggested that we not stay in one of the villages but in nearby Sestri Levante instead. We went first-class: two top floor rooms for six people with a view of the Mediterranean. It wasn't cheap but it made the visit special.

Simply sitting on the balcony was part of the experience. Manager Franco was super-helpful. The train station (jumping off point for Cinque Terre) was a five-minute walk. Breakfast was included. Fine restaurants abounded. Friends from nearby Rapallo came by and marveled at the beauty of the town. It may be a while before we are able to return but our friends and relatives who live closer to Sestri Levante may well return to the Celeste.

Stayed at this small hotel as part of a walking group. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food is good and location is ideal for exploring the area and the cinque terre. Rooms are rather basic and for some inexplicable reason, the single members off our group were given double beds and couples ended up with very narrow single beds. Not very comfortable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the Hotel and if you are a couple, a double bed.

An excellent location across from the beach and close to the town centre. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast first class. The room was large and clean. On our last night when we were out the staff came to clean our room and turn down the bed. What a pleasant surprise! Excellent service.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in Sestri Levante for one week as members of a walking group. Great area for trekking and the hotel is very popular with walking organisations.
We found the accomodation to be clean and comfortable, everything that we need was supplied. The owner and all the staff were very friendly and most helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Food was adequate, typical continental style buffet breakfast, dinner was 3 courses plus a salad bar and I must say that we were pleasantly suprised at the very reasonable price of the house wine, which was quite enjoyable.
The hotel is ideally situated facing the promenade and has it's own beach offering most facilities, can get a bit crowded at the week end. Bikes are available and so is wi-fi, all at no charge. On Sunday evening,15th Sept, there was a magnificent firework display (not specially laid on for us), I gather it was in celebration of a Saint's day.
Town centre has a good relaxed feel with a variety of shops and cafes, and most importantly the train station is in easy walking distance from the hotel.

Room Tip: Road traffic noise at night can be a problem.

I've just got home from a week in Sestri, staying at the Celeste as part of an organised walking group, for which the hotel seems very popular. It faces the sea, and is only a few minutes' walk from the town centre. We stayed on a half board basis. Breakfast is buffet style, with a good choice, but very little variety. The evening meal for groups has a choice of three starters and three main courses, with a set dessert. I found the main course a bit short on quantity, and the salad bar was the same every night, although the ingredients were fresh. One very favourable point was the house red wine at 5 Euros a bottle - very drinkable. One major drawback was my single room, which was very small, including a narrow single bed, and facing the courtyard, meaning there was little natural light. Other singles had double or twin rooms for the same price. My advice would be to ask to change rooms immediately if offered something below standard (which several guests did). However, the place was clean, and the staff friendly (though the owner could be a little grumpy). The private beach is stony, but convenient, being just across the road. Deckchairs are free, but sun loungers are 3 Euros a day. Bicycles may be borrowed free of charge.

Room Tip: Be prepared to ask to change!

The place is charming and welcoming. I would recommend it without any doubt. The staff is very nice, the location is great, although not exactly in the center but very close. Great view on the sea from the rooms. The hotel has its private beach included in the price, very well maintained and equipped. Rooms are clean and nice. A very good pick ! No doubts !

Room Tip: Ask the view on the beach, not expensive and definitely worth it !!
