I have been a user of TripAdvisor for quite some time, but seldom have I been a contributor to the site. Well, after a recent trip with my wife to Italy, I felt compelled to share my experience at-Hotel Helvetia. From the very first moment we arrived, my wife and I knew that all of our months of planning had come to fruition. The place was beautiful. The rooms were well furnished, the staff was quite friendly and above all, the views were to die for. I would recommend that any reader of this review strongly consider staying at Hotel Helvetia. I want to give a special thank you to the owner's wife. She really went above and beyond to make us feel at home. From answering all of my emails before the trip to being so attentive during our stay to even walking me through the entire Cinque Terre experience, she was certainly a highlight of our experience. It is so wonderful to know that this type of service and attention to detail still exists in the world today.

Room Tip: Stay in room 121. Considered a garden view, however, you have a wonderful view of the pool and a partial view of the sea. Lots to see without paying extra. You'll spend most of your time at the pool and on the rooftop deck anyway.

We visited Sestri Levante and the Hotel Helvetia as part of our honeymoon to Italy. The hotel is a small but very beautiful family owned business that is well maintain. The management and staff were extremely helpful trying to make our stay as memorable as possible. And it was!
It is ideally located (once you find the location driving in very narrow streets) in the very private and quiet Baia del Silenzio, a remote beach with limited access to the public. Have them park your car upon arrival and walk or catch a train during your stay.
Sestri Levante is a lovely and lively town. Since the hotel has no restaurants (except for a good breakfast), you have the opportunity to discover the many great restaurants walking distance from the hotel. The rooms and pool offer amazing views. The Infinity pool and spa are to die for.
You have to kick yourself to leave the hotel as it is magical.
But you have to extend yourself to Cinque Terre and Portofino/Santa marguerita di Liguria. They are a must to visit.
definitely a must stop when visiting the Italian riviera.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms offer ocean view. Not a must since the hotel's pool and tub offer spectacular views. We had a room on the third floor, on the side of the hotel but still offering an amazing view of the bay and ocean as well as a direct access to the pool, one of the only rooms with that convenient feature.

Clearly the number one reason to choose this hotel is its location. It is beautifully situated overlooking Baia Silenzio. We had a nice spacious and light room which could easily accomodate two adults and a child. The terrace is a great place to spend time and enjoy the scenery. Hard to beat in Sestri Levante.

Parking of your vehicle is difficult in Sestri Levante but the hotel has a few lots though they are not within walking distance. No issue as you are unlikely to need your car.

However, as Hotel Helvetia targets to be a top hotel, as also reflected in their pricing, we were disappointed about the level of service. It is very laid back, clearly conveying that in the summer time it will always be fully booked, no matter of the service. Bicycles offered at the courtesy of the hotel are mostly disfunctional, flat tire, broken chains etc. and little desire to fix it. Wifi, likewise offered free of charge is frequently not working or very slow as apparently too many guests try to use it at the same time.
Breakfast is ok, though we would have expected more variety.

Clearly, those are all minor issues but for a hotel at this price we would have expected a bit more effort to offer a service matching the aspirations of Hotel Helvetia.

My husband, mother, father and I just returned from a wonderful holiday at the Hotel Helvetia. I had to rebook rather last minute and had to give up my sea view rooms. I thought this would be a problem but it was in no way an issue. We had 2 Junior Suites Garden View and we loved them. The views from everywhere at the hotel are amazing. There are so many places to go with loungers you will never be fighting for them. The beach is right there and so is a great beach bar and restaurant. It's not part of the hotel but it's close enough to feel like it is. It's a great place for a long lunch of caprese salad and a bottle of wine. The hotel breakfast area is where you can have sunset spritzes. The view is out of this world. The pool (and upper heated pool) changes colors at night lending a really cool/sexy feel. There are a lot of shops in town right there, easy walking pedestrian area. We walked 2 nights to the Restaurant Portobello. It's right on the beach and has a nice romantic feel. You can walk there either on the beach or through town. We had a wonderful stay and I would go back tomorrow if I could. The management and everyone who worked there were all incredibly nice.

The hotel, the vies and the staff were fantastic, We loved this hotel. Roberto was the perfect host to start our stay. He helped with the parking , luggage and check- in... It was our best welcome of the whole trip. The view was spectacular. The breakfast was probably the best we had during the trip..Luhansk you for those wonderful baked apples each morning. We had the option of sitting on a beautiful terrace, the location was great to take the train to the Cinque Terra. Loved everything about this stay.
