Great room -with balcony. All facilities very good. Heating but no air con which was not a problem as nights were cool. Restaurant: service excellent, Marco, very considerate and particularly helpful with restricted dietary requirements - and his English is very good! Matteu a very pleasant and efficient young waiter. Reception staff (Manuela and Damiana) could not have been more helpful and pleasant. Food, particularly when hotel was not full, was excellent. Very clean, comfortable room and very good bed, but mattresss cover a bit plastic and pillows hard (we brought our own).Suggestion: please put a kettle in the room!

Good hotel. Spacious room. Very clean. Bed a bit hard for me - thin mattress. Air con bit noisy on full and not really efficient - but I do like a cool bedroom.

Very good food and service in the restaurant abd bar. Nice to be able to boil own eggs for breakfast.

Happy to return

I have just returned from a ski holiday with my brother and 5 friends. The hotel was really nice.It is in a great location. The waiters, receptionists ,bar man and cleaners were really friendly, nothing was too much to ask for them. The food at the hotel is exceptional. We were there as half board and the breakfast was great and plentyful and the dinners in the evening were great and nicely presented. You choose your meal in the morning and is served to you by pino, claudio and domenico.
This hotel bar prices are very reasonable, same as bars on road,Rocco the barman gives you a good measure-doubles,no optics.
We all enjoyed our stay there, the bedrooms are spacious and very clean. We hope to return next year,Erica .Suzzanna and vera are great on front desk.

Room Tip: rooms at back are quieter, but front rooms have great views

Just got back from this hotel, staff very friendly and hotel spotless, the food is typical Italian great anti paste, lots of lovely salads! I found the first courses more enjoyable than second so I had 2 first courses instead which was'nt a problem for the waiters who are very friendly and helpfull! The hotel has ski lockers over the road right on the slopes which is great after a days skiing as ski's are not the easiest things to carry! If I went to Sestriere again I would stay at this hotel again

Room Tip: Get one away from the lifts and stairs

We stayed here a week at start of March 2013. Stunning outlook from our room onto the ski runs. The hire shops & ski safe for overnight storage of equipment is 1 minute walk. Their is a warm room in hotel for boot storage. Faculties, food, service & staff are just the best. No faults at all. Noise from snow clearing the road at 5am was loud but I was ok with it..girlfriend less so....
Will return. The routes are part of milky way and day trips to other resorts are available for very few euros. Simply a great value holiday.

stayed @ hotel cristallo whilst skiing for a weekin Sestriere.
Great location, literally just over the road from the ski-school meeting point and chair lift so just a very short walk in the morning and evening.
the spa was nice after a hard days skiing, and the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi really helped those aching legs.
nice warm comfy rooms.
fantastic food, 4 courses every night, compriing buffet salad, anti-pasta, main and buffet dessert.
free tea and cake in the afternoon.

lovelly friendly staff, who made the stay even better.

We stayed in January 2013 as part of a group. I found the previous reviews on Trpadvisor very useful before travelling so I knew what to expect. Our friends had already booked the hotel so we chose it so that we were all co-located. We had a very enjoyable holiday and on balance I was happy with the hotel.
I liked the location, about as good as you can get in Sestriere in terms of proximity to the lifts, although the Hotel du Col on the other side of the road is slighly nearer, and the Villaggio Olympico is closest to the gondola for the link to Sansicario & the rest of the Via Lattea. When returning from Sansicario at the end of the day you need to take a lift up on the Sestriere side in order to get back up to the Cristallo & the centre of town.
I liked the buffet breakfast & afternoon tea. The restaurant was OK but I wouldn't rave about it. We ate there twice in the evening as we were staying B&B and ate out elsewhere the rest of the time.
We booked too late to get a room with a mountain view, but I wasn't too disappointed about this as our room, 104, was very spacious with twin beds made up as a large double and an extra single. The bathroom was fine: no bath but a very good height adjustable power shower and reasonable hair drier. The view from the window was a fire escape and a brick wall, but as we were out skiing all day & it was dark when we were in the room it was not an issue.
I didn't like the plastic undersheet - there are more modern alternatives these days that can be as effective, so beware those of you who are sensitive to such things (like me & one of the previous reviewers).
The decor is maybe a little unfashionable, but personally I'm not a fan of ultra-modern design, but on the up side, there was plenty of storage space. I would have liked some brighter light bulbs especially over the mirrors. I liked the fact there was a mini-bar fridge.
The hot-tub was a big disappointment as the water was only luke-warm. The spa area is a bit clinical and the floor was very wet, however the sauna and steam room were good. The cardio equipment looked to be of a good standard, but with lots of skiing on offer I had no need to use it.
I bought some internet time from the hotel - 2 Euros for 2 hours and got a reasonable strength wireless signal in the room and a better signal in the bar. The minutes you buy can also be used on the hotel's desktop PC. Other members of our party used the commune's free wifi successfully during the day, but this became weaker as people returned from skiing after 4pm.
What made the stay at the Cristallo that bit special was the friendliness and efficiency of the hotel staff, particularly the receptionists. Nothing was too much trouble.
We travelled in a very civilised manner to Sestriere by train: Eurostar to Paris Nord, RER to Gare de Lyon, and TGV to Oulx. The hotel arranged a taxi for 6 of us from the station at Oulx to the Cristallo which took around 30 minutes.

Room Tip: Room capacity varies enormously. Some of the mountain view rooms are very small, others slightly lar...
