About 15 minutes from Spoleto, off the road to Terni - well signposted so easy to find. Beautifully set in quiet Umbrian hillside with panoramic views. We were here in winter so not Alex to take advantage of the alfresco dining - on the other hand we enjoyed the open fire and the cosy atmosphere in what is in fact quite a good sized restaurant. But come here for the excellent Umbrian table and a wine list that provides extensive choice (in region, style and cost). Service was excellent - friendly but not pushy. This restaurant enjoys a very strong reputation among locals (we were guests of one) and with very good reason. We had the excellent trifetta (prosciutto, bruschetta with truffle, and a stunning omelette with truffle) for antipasto. Mains were first class - can recommend the polpette and the lamb (breaded, which is an unusual take in Umbria). It's probably a little more expensive than many restaurants in Spoleto, but well worth a few extra Euro for the experience. Monday closed.
