“Top shelf hotel in the heart of the historic center of Spoleto”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2011

In all my years of visiting, working in and vacationing in Spoleto, Italy, this is one of my favorite hotels, hands down! We now use this hotel for our annual Umbrian Serenades choral/cultural program that takes place in late July every summer. The staff is incredible - they go way beyond our expectations and are genuinely engaged and passionate about their work - from the cleaning staff, to the front desk and wait staff. We have rarely had any issues while staying there, and if something does occur, it is dealt with immediately and resolved. Regarding the rooms and comfort, etc. - they are large for European standards, well-appointed, extremely clean and comfortable. Some rooms have balconies with exquisite views of either the Spoleto hillsides or the incredible Roman Forum ruins! The location is centrally located in the historic center close to everything you need. The breakfast spread is abundant, fresh and well-balanced, and the morning wait staff is phenomenal - bringing whichever hot beverage of choice in a quick and cheerful manner. I can't say enough about Hotel dei Duchi and recommend it to any who are visiting the mystical, magical town of Spoleto in their time in Bella Italia!

Since my first review of this wonderful hotel I have gone back and stayed twice, took another group of 26 people; I cannot speak any higher of this outstanding 4 star hotel in the historic center of Spoleto. The professionalism and attention to detail of the staff is unlike any other. Our program participants had a wonderful 12 night stay at Hotel dei Duchi and I cannot imagine staying at any other hotel. The spacious rooms, bathrooms, hallways, beautiful terrace, garden, lobby, exquisite food at the hotel restaurant, and breakfast buffet - simply outstanding! Please feel free to contact me personally for more specific questions.

We stayed at Hotel Dei Duchi for 5 nights in July 2011 during the Festival. We were very impressed with practically everything about this hotel: the perfect location, the great views, a comfortable and spotlessly clean room with a large bathroom, delicious food, friendly and competent service. The staff accommodated us with every request we made even for softer pillows! We had a lovely time walking around and exploring Spoleto. The Box Office for the Festival was a few steps away and the hotel had arranged for discounts for their guests. We saw some fabulous shows particularly the performances by Aszure Barton and Artists.

Thanks to all the staff for making our stay very memorable!

We stayed in Hotel Dei Duchi for 6 nights in september 2010. When we arrived they surprised us with a superior room for the prices of a standard room. The people in the reception were very nice and helpfull. We had (free) coffe and the in the lounch the day we arrived :-).

The restaurant in the Hotel itself was for my convenience too big and without nice atmosphere. However no problem at all, because there are very mucht nice little restaurants in the town of Spoleto.

We had a very nice stay in Spoleto and surroundings. For wine tasting I would recommend Montefalco, about a half hour drive from Spoleto. For food(truffles) I would recommend Norcia , in the mountains just above Spoleto.

If you arrive at the hotel on busy hours, just park your car in front of the hotel and give your key at the reception, they will look after yoor car.

We stayed there four nights in May, 11. The room was good sized, so we had plenty of room to scatter our stuff about, which we like to do. Extra chairs, good bathroom, excellent bed and a small balcony looking away from town. Very quite, perfectly clean, efficient and courteous service. The morning colazione was good, not spectacular. We ate one night in their dining room and that was about what you expect from a hotel restaurant, okay, not so great, we ate there because my wife was tired that evening. But the restaurant does present nice views.
There is a bar in the lobby area and a free parking lot in front, but the parking space is quite restricted, I think it only holds about 15 cars.
The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is quite close to the center of town, immediately next to the old Roman amphitheater ruins and the archiological museum (a very nice interesting museum) and within easy walk of the duomo, shopping and plenty of nice restaurants.
If we return to Spoleto, we will want to stay there again.

Room Tip: Tell them what you want.

Spoleto was an incredible discovery, but would never have been the same without finding this hotel and it's wonderful service. Customer service is sadly a rarity these days, but from the moment we stepped into the hotel, we felt at home. A lovely older chap by the name of Luciano let us choose our rooms, helped us with everything from restaurants to sights and from start to finnish was always there with a smile to help. Our view was wonderful, the restaurant has a garden overlooking a 90ad Roman theatre. Clean rooms, air conditioning. what more could you ask for and to think it's located in a small town lost in the Umbrian hills. HIGHLY RECCOMEND!

The hotel is centrally located near the entrance of the old town but at the same time is very quiet and peaceful. Its garden overlooks the Roman Theater and on the other side the wonderful hills surrounding Spoleto.
The restaurant service was excellent and the food mouthwatering!
All in all a great experience worth coming back for especially during the Spoleto Festival 24/6-10/7/2011

Room Tip: Best rooms are overlooking the town
