We stayed four nights. For a "four star hotel", there is no air-conditioning and no lift or elevator. I didn't mind this. However, it was 68 steps down (and up!) from our room at the top to the breakfast room and terrace at the bottom, so people with mobility problems should bear that in mind. Our "standard" room had an excellent view of the Ponte, and was perfectly comfortable. The bathroom is typical European bidet and "hand held shower" style - but it had a good view as well!
The Gattapone staff were all very helpful and friendly, and rates were very reasonable. There is a kind of '60s atmosphere tp the property, and some of the decor and wallpaper is just a bit tired, but for "prime position" in Spoleto, it's very hard to go past this place.

Have stayed here twice. Looks small from outside, but very sprawling inside. Many levels. Rooms are pleasant, but very old style. No showers--hand held sprayer in tub. Poor room & bathroom lighting. Breakfast OK. View of Aqueduct & Valley below is marvelous. Handy to nearby square with beautiful church. Rooms vary a lot--if they have more than one choice when you arrive, look at several & choose what suits you. Go for best view! Challenging to reach by car--fold in your rear view mirrors on the narrow streets.

Room Tip: Get one w/ best view

Funky building overlooking an amazing Roman bridge and forest right at the end Sploeto town. The air conditioning is as old as the bridge and didn't work. Being a very hot day and having very large windows this was no joke. Rooms vary and we had to change to get a very pleasant room overlooking the wooded valley and the bridge. Generally ok but could do with a little TLC

We stayed in a standard room onthe 2 nd floor with a superb view of the green surrounding hills of U mbria and it s cool breese even in August. Astonishing Roman bridge in front of our room window and from the breakfast room. At night we looked at the starry sky which was overwhelming. During the day we walked in to the town center or in the woods of the hills in front of us. Both very easy to reach by foot. The decor and interior of the hotel is a real joy for your eyes iff amateur of art and antique. One in a million would definitly choose it again.

Wonderful location, wonderful view, and wonderful staff. What more can you ask for in a hotel?? Charming residence, comfortable rooms, and within easy walking distance of everything Spoleto has to offer. The owner is very kind, speaks English, and understands the concept of customer service, Really important for foreign tourists not familiar with this region of Italy, who do not speak Italian. Thank you.

We booked this hotel on the basis of the Rough Guide recommendation but it was by far the worst place out of 9 hotels and b&b's we stayed in. There was no shower, the air con didn't work properly, the breakfast was very dull......the juice, milk and fruit were not fresh. We were the only guests staying in the hotel, and I am not surprised. The view was fantastic from the room, but it would have been better if they had cleaned the windows and insufficient to justify the premium price. Sorry, but very disappointed. We checked out one day early.

Stayed here one night and was knocked out by the view from the bedroom looking over the aquaduct and down into the valley. Lovely staff who are very helpfull.
The hotel is now a little dated and the breakfeast leaves a lot to be desired however as we appeared to be the only people there this critism may not be fair.
however without doubt we would stay there again.

Room Tip: Any room overlooking the aquaduct.
