We travelled to Stromboli Island by hydrofoil from Palermo. This was an exciting trip as we stopped at several other islands first. We finally arrived at the harbour and had yo wait a few minutes for the little buggy up to the hotel. What a lovely island Stromboli is. The harbour was only about 1/2 a mile from the hotel, but due to the one way system, it felt like it was a long way away. Once we got to the hotel, we were shown to our room which had a fantastic view of Strombolicchio which was topped by a lighthouse. The sea was a lovely turquoise colour although the sand on the little private beach was black volcanic sand. The room we had was clean and big enough for us for the 2 days we were there. On our first night we ate at the restaurant attached to the hotel, where we were able to choose our own fish from the catch of the day. Not a cheap meal (approx £75), but lovely and the restaurant was in the open on the terrace. The breakfast was also served on another terrace. This consisted of fresh fruit, croissants, cereals, fresh coffee, juice, yoghurts and lovely cakes, all replenished as necessary. I would certainly stay here again, thought perhaps opt for a room without a sea view as I'd then get a view of the volcano instead.
