“A good quiet hotel option on Stromboli”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

We went to Stromboli in hot high season a couple of weeks ago, with main purpose of taking the late afternoon the following day to hike up to the crater of the volcano. This hotel is not on the main drag at the ferry port but much nicer for that. It is the perfect stop for a couple of nights while you explore. The main town area is walkable, or you can take a small motorised tuk-tuk taxi. Hotel Villaggio rooms are as described below, not super luxurious but clean, adequate, and the hotel has a nice vibe. They serve a good enough breakfast, homemade cakes, good jam, choice of pastries if you get there soon enough. There is access via steep steps from the hotel straight down - 10 seconds - to a private black-sand beach where you can hire loungers/ umbrellas by the day from Davio. Beware of jelly fish there though, and always wear goggles to swim. Top tip - the best food we had from another restaurant called Al Zurro

Room Tip: Rooms facing the sea are good, we had a lovely family room a short walk from the dining room for bre...

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights. We had a room with sea view. The room was very clean (you can eat from the floor). The rooms are simple and basic but well kept. Excellent breakfast buffet with home-made cakes, curd, fruits and of course real italian coffee. Very friendly and helpful staff. The location is excellent, with a small beach in front of the hotel.Good access for a walk to the village or view point to see some eruptions in the night.
I will definately come back and stay a week or longer.

We are a family of 5 and the room that we had with a king and bunk beds was functional and ok.
The hotel is right on the beach which was nice. A 10-15 minute walk into town though.
Our main criticism was that during our visit (second week in April) they had almost no facilities open at the hotel. There was a basic breakfast but almost no lunch option (just a begrudging offer of pasta with tomato sauce) or dinner or bar.
For such a basic service it seemed quite expensive.
The staff were helpful however within the bounds of the facilities that they had, eg picking us up from the hydrofoil and driving me down to change hydrofoil tickets when we extended a day due to poor weather preventing us going up the volcano.
Indeed a lot of the bars, restaurants and shops were closed on the whole island during our visit.
It was lovely location though and the volcano was great.

What an amazing place. Highly recommend it. Stromboli is my favourite place in the world (so far) we had a sea view with Volcano behind us. Rooms were clean, service was friendly, beautiful sun spots, wonderful growing plants over walkways. Dining area was large and certainly did not feel pushed for space. Easy access to everywhere and was only a short walk into town. Not far from hike paths either! Enjoy

Room Tip: Much cooler at night. Have some layers.

We travelled to Stromboli Island by hydrofoil from Palermo. This was an exciting trip as we stopped at several other islands first. We finally arrived at the harbour and had yo wait a few minutes for the little buggy up to the hotel. What a lovely island Stromboli is. The harbour was only about 1/2 a mile from the hotel, but due to the one way system, it felt like it was a long way away. Once we got to the hotel, we were shown to our room which had a fantastic view of Strombolicchio which was topped by a lighthouse. The sea was a lovely turquoise colour although the sand on the little private beach was black volcanic sand. The room we had was clean and big enough for us for the 2 days we were there. On our first night we ate at the restaurant attached to the hotel, where we were able to choose our own fish from the catch of the day. Not a cheap meal (approx £75), but lovely and the restaurant was in the open on the terrace. The breakfast was also served on another terrace. This consisted of fresh fruit, croissants, cereals, fresh coffee, juice, yoghurts and lovely cakes, all replenished as necessary. I would certainly stay here again, thought perhaps opt for a room without a sea view as I'd then get a view of the volcano instead.

Hotel and location are spectacular. Best accommodations on the island. Beach access, great breakfast, lovely gardens, all and all a wonderful place to relax on the beautiful island of Stromboli. This is a family run hotel and they care about your comfort and experience. Definitely get a room with a sea view, it is well worth the small extra cost.
Contrary to other reviews, we enjoyed the restaurant. We ate there twice during our five night stay.

This hotel is absolutely breathtaking. If you are planning to visit Stromboli, I highly recommend this hotel. The driver met us promptly at the port when our ferry arrived at 5:40 in the morning and showed us the sitting room where we could be comfortable before the office staff arrived at 8/9 am.

The hotel overlooks the water and is very romantic.

Francesca spoke English and was very helpful with directions and making our stay very pleasant. The rest of the staff was great too!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room. You won't be disappointed.
