Dear George:

We are feeling very nostalgic about our 4-week stay in your lovely home in Todi. It was remarkable to live in a 700-year old house in a medieval hill town, which you have so tastefully restored. Your former home does not feel like a rental house at all. You did indeed put your heart and soul into it.

Anne just loved having breakfast in the garden, watching the swifts fly, and picking the cherries. The figs will be ripe in a week. Lucky for the next people.

Thanks so much for calling us from time to time. It was very comforting and helpful to have you so readily available, and to have Isabella to clean for us.

Todi is a wonderful place to spend a protracted period of time. I commend the city administration for keeping the city spotlessly clean. It made it so pleasant to walk up the stairs by the Etruscan wall to the piazza for an evening prosecco. A wonderful, peaceful place to linger and admire one of the great public squares in Italy.

Todi is also an excellent location from which to visit all of Umbria. We returned to Orvieto, Perugia and Assissi so many times that we did not get to many places we wanted to visit. I suppose we could have done so, but Todi is too pleasant a place to spend the day, and walks in the neighboring countryside are so pleasant, that staying home often won out over exploring new places.

Two things we hadn’t anticipated. First, Todi’s Olympic-sized swimming pool, which is kept immaculately clean. A great place on a hot day. Second, the nightly soccer games on the field below your house with 4 on 4 matches between local teams. Our grandchildren, who are soccer players, were mightily impressed!

We are so glad that we spent a weekend in your apartment in Florence and had a chance to meet you.

Warm regards,

Jon and Anne Halverson

“Wonderful family vacation in Todi”
Reviewed 5 September 2017 for a stay in May 2015

We rented George's house in Todi for the month of May. We had family and friends visiting throughout the month and the house accommodated us all very comfortably. We enjoyed the location of the house; the views from the backyard were spectacular! Being able to walk to the piazza in Todi was a plus and we took full advantage of all the charm Todi has to offer.

Todi itself is a charming hill town without the touristy feel. After staying a month, we got familiar with a lot of the locals and knew them on a first name basis. There are many amazing sites and day trips to take from Todi; we also used public transportation on several occasions to get to Rome and Florence. Todi has many fabulous restaurants and a supermarket conveniently located.

George was very helpful and gracious. As mentioned, his home was roomy, clean and comfortable. He recommended we use Stefano Agostino for transports and car rental and we were thrilled we followed up with the suggestion. Stefano was delightful and we highly recommend you utilize his services if you are considering a stay at George's. We enjoyed him so much that we extended an invite for him to visit us here in the states! George also recommended Isabella to assist me during the month with cleaning and we were very happy to meet her and her family during our stay.

Our family and friends totally enjoyed their stay in Todi. If you are looking to experience living as a local, then Todi is the place for you! Even after a month, it was difficult to leave this enchanting place!

“Incredible place in an incredible town”
Reviewed 5 September 2017 for a stay in July 2015

This is an exquisite property, and pictures do not do it justice, especially the views from the garden, where we started most evenings with wine and provisions secured from the days adventures.

The apartment itself is spacious and decorated very smartly with great attention to detail. It has everything you need including a fully equipped kitchen that we utilized with a cooking lesson form a local chef recommended by George. Highly recommended,

It is a short walk to everywhere in Todi, which is a charming town and a great jumping point for most places in Umbria. I would highly recommend the Todi house as a great headquarters to explore Umbria!

You're right. As a professional photographer I didn't apply myself as I would have for a client. I am slowly renewing them as we make improvements on the house.
Thanks for your kind review.

“Exquisite Umbrian Hilltown Experience”
Reviewed 5 September 2017 for a stay in October 2016

We wisely returned to George's Todi home after a 16-year hiatus; that delay in returning to Todi will not be repeated. We will return with Family (home comfortably sleeps 7), within the next 18 months.

Recent posters have accurately lauded George's home; it is an absolute treasure!
George has a genuine love of his beloved Todi, and Umbria, that is unsurpassed. He
is all about his guests maximizing (whether it be food, places to visit, etc.), their stay at
his home.

Todi is a perfectly located base from which to explore by day-trip any number of intriguing Umbrian (and adjoining Regions),
towns....Orvieto, Cortona--don't miss La Bucaccia), Montefalco, Perugia, Siena, etc.,
(Ristorante Umbria, adjacent to Todi's City Center, is not to be missed).

If you want to experience living in a 14th Century home/neighborhood, in a residence with modern amenities, this Todi home is for
you and your loved ones, (Note: EMI Supermarket is a 5-minute drive down the hill from the City Center; EMI is first-rate, and can provide your party with all you need to cook at home, and have a glorious meal at George's backyard dining table, with stupendous views of the Valley below, free of charge).

Coming from someone who has worked as both a lawyer and real-estate
agent, your words count more than usual. I can only deduce that you too fell in love with Todi seeing as how you have incorporated its name in your private email address! Only good wishes R.

“Charming ancient house close to the center of Todi with spectacular views”
Reviewed 12 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Beautiful old stone house that oozes character on four levels within the medieval walls of Todi with modern conveniences and a garden with spectacular views over some of the most beautiful countryside of all of Umbria. Todi itself is a lovely, charming town, one of the most beautiful of the many hill towns of central Italy, with a large elegant asymmetrical piazza, historic churches and beautiful frescoes but, unlike many of its neighbors, still a home to its residents and not overwhelmed by tourists. The house is full of character (one of the bedrooms even sits on an arch spanning the narrow street) and is suitable for all seasons. There is a short 5 minute or so (uphill) walk to the central piazza, where you can find cafes, restaurants, food, supplies and, most importantly, gelati, and return home mercifully going downhill A couple of miles out of town is the sporting center where you can swim in a giant well-organised pool with lifeguards and waterslides or play tennis on clay or hard courts. There is also an athletics/running track and a delightful and inexpensive restaurant near the sporting centre, called La Mulinella. The weather was a bit warm when we visited (mid-30's) but the house coped well and there are a couple of internal airconiditioners and fans that made sleeping comfortable. We spent most of our days either at the pool or visiting other towns in the area (e.g., Assisi, Montefalco, Deruta etc.) and then sat in the garden in the evenings sipping the superb local Sagrantino red wines watching the sun set on the gorgeous views. Mosquitos are an issue in Todi as they seem to be throughout Tuscany and Umbria, so invest in citronella candles and quality mosquito repellent and keep fans going inside if they bother you. I would recommend a car, partly to visit nearby sights and partially for the pool and sports facility (the views of Todi from he sports center and the surrounding countryside are spectacular), but it is not absolutely necessary. There are occasional buses that go to Perugia and elsewhere but they are hard to plan around.

The owner is extremely helpful and has a good network of people who know him who can get things done. He is American with an Italian mother so dealing in English and Italian are equally easy.

The closest airport is Perugia, accessible from Stansted in the U.K. and from Barcelona and a few other places in Europe but Rome is only 1 1/2 hours away except at rush hour, so it's relatively easy to get to.

I would recommend this very highly.
