I was blown away by the beauty of this location. We holidayed with a large group of friends and this castle was simply divine.
The beautiful mountainous surroundings and the peaceful pool area gave us a great opportunity to relax and enjoy.
The food and wine in the restaurant was of very high quality and our accomodation was fabulous.
The staff int he castle are friendly and attentive and the breakfast was divine, with the most delicious cakes and pastries.
Would love to go back one day.

The place is truly magical. We stayed 1 night beginning of November & were the only ones (which made it even more special). The castle from 12ve century is in the middle of beautiful countryside with several medieval towns around it (Tody, Orvietto, Spoleto). The castle has a little church also from 12ve century I think. It was closed but we asked to see it & it was opened especially to show us. The castle itself is magnificent with many opportunities for pictures.

We were greated by Ermanno the manager who was very friendly & helpful. I must say that my Italian in-laws stayed in this castle in August & were equally delighted.
The room was spacious, beautiful & authentic but with modern bathroom. The heating was already on when we arrived (very thoughtful). Big bed, plenty of space to store stuff. One point of improvement is to have more toilleteries for the bathroom.

Special word of the restaurant "I Due Papi". The place is beautiful with the fire & beautiful paintings on the wall. The cook was Ermanno's son (also super friendly guy). We ordered mixed grill which was done on the fire in front of us. One of the best meals, really. The restaurant was especially opened for lunch for us (it would have been closed otherwise, but we called in advance & asked if was possible to have lunch upon arrival).

The breakfast is very good too with prosciutto, cheeses, bread, cereals, various jams, cakes ets. Would be nice to have a real Italian coffee instead of Nescafe but we should have probably just ask for it.

All in all, exceptional stay. Can highly recommend.

Room tip: Room on a 1st floor for a view

Steeped in history, and with a superb location, we loved our two-day stay here in the Umbrian countryside. The castle, surrounded by its small village ('burgo') is impressive and provides, as you'd expect from military architecture, terrific views. We were welcomed by Ginevra, the Marchesa, whose family have owned the castle for the last 500 years or so - check out the family tree in the breakfast room. Peaceful, good food, and willing to go the extra mile (quite literally - we were seeing friends for a birthday party, and she had Ermano, her excellent concierge, drive us there). Highly recommended.

The castello we stayed with near Amelia had beautiful buildings, the swimming pool is a good size and our room was comfortable and stylish. It also had really good service; the owner up graded us to a larger room, her staff man carried our bags to and from the car, we had a great dinner on the castle terrace; the owner, who spoke impeccable English, went out of her way to return a pair of trunks to me by post. It also has lovely views and is within easy reach of Todi and other interesting Umbrian towns.

My husband and I are on a driving tour of Italy and France. We did not want to go to places with too many tourists as we had just come from Venice where they were shoulder to shoulder. This place is magical. Your hostess is the most delightful, elegant and cultured lady you will ever meet. It is so beautiful and peaceful. There are so many places to visit within an hour so we used it as a base. The food was wonderful at the restaurant as well. The value for money is not to be believed. I can't say enough for this place.
