We knew as soon as we arrived - via an un-madeup track, flanked by chickens and a meadow of poppies - that we had chosen well !
Pasquale met us at an easy-to-find location and guided us the short distance to our holiday hideaway, where we were greeted with boxes of unexpected provisions, all produced in one way or another by our hosts.
The property had all necessary facilities, and we were assured that we only had to ask if there was anything else we needed - apart from more eggs and home-made wine, there was nothing to ask for ! Pasquale and Giuseppe, his father, made us feel most welcome, and were very generous hosts; Giuseppe collected us for a guided tour around his own home one morning - we left carrying the most beautiful lemons, oranges and eggs......
All we needed to do was relax, wander to the end of the road for dinner if we felt like it, and walk a little further for coffee, ice-cream or cocktails.
We would definitely return to this property in this stunning area again when we are in need of a couple of weeks of hassle-free rest and relaxation.

I have visited most of Italy over the years and stayed in many villas. This one was lovely, simple and rural but also clean and well equipped. The villa, as does this region of Calabria, truly has a tropical feel. The villa setting was lovely with many cactuses, flowers and banana trees. It was also easy to walk to the beach, with a choice of two beaches at easy reach by foot plus plenty of restaurants and a supermarket. 4 of us stayed at the villa including my two children and there was plenty of room for us all. My car broke down so we had to travel everywhere by foot but it was easy enough. There is a good bus service to Tropea, so this was an easy excursion and it was also very easy to book a boat trip to see Stromboli and the other Aeolian Islands. The sea is a beautiful turquoise and very clear and the beaches are clean. Giuseppe, the Villa owner/manger was incredibly helpful and couldn't do more for us, including helping with our broken down car. He also speaks incredibly good English! We would go again! If you want to experience real Southern Italy and stay in a peaceful and tropical setting and do not mind a bit walking then I would highly recommend!
