These beautiful botanical gardens are well worth a visit. We came in May and whilst the rhododendrons and azaleas were past their best there were lots of other flowering trees and bushes in bloom. There are lots of beautiful trees and the gardens are beautifully layed out with different flowering beds and lily ponds. There were lots of different birds to be seen and heard. There are lots of places to sit and admire the scenery as it is quite a long walk around the gardens but as there is so much to see you dont notice it. The Villa isn't open to the public but the garden is breath taking! Well worth a visit and good value for the money

Only azaleas were in bloom when we visited. Garden has great trees and grounds but it was disappointing not to see a lot of flowers. We visited on May 8.

Azaleas in Stresa city were as beautiful as the ones in Villa Taranto.

This is surely one of the most gorgeous botanical gardens I have seen. We did not even know about Villa Taranto at all; I found out about it from one of the frequent posters on the TA forums. So glad we went! We arrived early and were lucky to find parking right at the entrance. There was no line to buy tickets (10€ per adult ticket, including the maps). We were about to spend one hour or so, but did not realize how vast and beautiful the park is. This is one of those magical places where you want to walk forever... I never knew that tulips could be so huge in size and of such variety of colors. Gorgeous!!!

The pond, the flower beds, the greenhouses with exotic plants, the sculptures, the alleys - everything is magnificent! No wonder Villa Taranto is one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world... The garden is a shining treasure of Lago Maggiore and definitely a must visit.

An Italian Friend advised us to visit Villa Taranto when we were by Lagio Maggiore.
Let me tell you: I will go back. Maybe in April when the Bulp Plants are flowering.
In May it was amasing trees and Bushes in full Flowers. And what a variety of Trees, Bushes and Flowers.
I strongly recommend this beautiful Park

Not too much blooming just yet. Azaleas are just passing, lots of pansies and poppies around to be admired. Beautiful trees and everything is very well kept but I think you need to check what’s blooming before making the journey over here.
