“Nice walk after a morning at the beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2014

We stayed at the Bagno Amelia and enjoyed the beach morning and the bar. Then a beautiful walk through the passeggiata. Wonderful mountain views. Viareggio is worth the trip... enjoyed it and we will be back.

“Overrated”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

The hald-end (port) of the passeggiata is overrated, with some drab places, often dirty.
It is a real shame because the set up has much to offer, including the "molo" (pier) walk.
Far too many immigrants trying to sell you whatever fake products they might have and few of those annoying Asian propping ejecting stupid planes into the air to tempt children.
If you want to walk in the passeggiata either do it from the square (Piazza Mazzini) to north or go on the port/pier way.

“La passeggiata gathering place on summer evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014

all people go to the passeggiata in summer evenings where it is fresh and cool as it is just of the back of the beach and sea. People on vacation relax walking the long promenade looking at the boutiques and having an ice-cream. Athos is very antique pizzeria where you can also have the "Cecina", a yellow peas flat pastry. Also the Rustichella has a wide choice of pizzas and sells also focaccia. Some sit down on the tables outside the cafees, but this can be expensive, especially the ones with live music. Everybody is smiling and talking together.
On the edge of the passeggiata there is also a bikes track, where you can ride for miles and miles to the little towns an villages along the west coast. Lido di Camaiore is the first little town. Many are the tourist who hire a bike for the day.
On the east ending you can carry on your stroll to the harbour and the pier, where you can have a nice view of Viareggio and the coast line.

“Great and fashionable one-mile walk”

Nearby the beach, with a wonderful panorama on the famous Apuane mountains: the source of the Carrara white marble used by Michelangelo and other famous artists!
