A Gourmet Seafood Lunch at Pino
We decided to follow Fodor's dining recommendation in its Florence and Tuscany guidebook, which praised the cooking prowess of Pino's Ristorante in Viareggio, Italy. We were seated at a lovely table in a small but elegant room. We started with a glass of local white wine, Terizzi & Puthod, Vernaccia di
San Gimignano. It was incredibly crisp and gently flavorful. We snacked on fresh bread until our orders arrived--fresh spaghetti with mussels and clams, fresh spaghetti with shrimp in white sauce, and a locally caught fresh white fish, carefully deboned and prepared with wine, olives, and capers. Each dish was spectacular, to the eye as well as the palate! What excellent food and drink, all of which resulted in a memorable Tuscan lunch!
