“Excellent location!”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

The views out of the rooms are absolutely breath taking, we have never experienced anything like it before. The room itself is very small - we had one without a balcony. As a previous traveller stated, the location is very nice, much closer to the town than some of the other hotels in the area. We were also able to travel to Positano (we did the Path of The Gods), Naples and Vesuvio (Pompei) from Vico Equense on our rental car, and even take the ferry to Capri (out of Sorrento). Private parking is available for extra cost (something like 12 euro/night). Some hotels in the area offer private parking to their guests for free (our friends were staying nearby), but do NOT expect to find parking in the streets. The location really made up for any other discomforts. The hotel hangs off a cliff with its own beach beneath. During our stay, the stairs down were locked off for whatever reason, so the only way down was the elevator. Normally this would not be a problem at all, however the elevator is only turned on from 9 am - 7 pm, meaning you cannot access the hotel's beach out of these hours. As most everywhere in Italy, loungers and umbrellas cost extra, and locals can get in if they pay (there were loads when we stayed there). There is a public beach down 240 steps about 15 minutes away by foot. We stayed in a few hotels during our trip to Italy, and Sporting was the priciest. Thank goodness for it's location and views, because otherwise the money would not be worth it.

Room Tip: All rooms have sea views, if you plan on spending time in your hotel room, get one with a balcony.

Firstly, the hotel is in a great location with the most unbelievable views. It's also close to the centre of Vico (unlike some other hotels in the area which are further out). The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel has a good beach. The hotel reception staff were very friendly and helpful; they really went out of their way to look after me and advise me on the best places to go in the area. I felt at home there and was very sad to have to leave such a beautiful place and lovely people. I definitely recommend this as a good base to visit the area.

First of all whatever I say about this hotel the views override everything. We travelled al of Amalfi/ Sorrento by car/bus/boat and I don't care what place you find the views will not be as good is this...+ a lot of other places in the world.
The room we were in (407) was definitely not 4 star (just a little spent would fix) but was spotless...thank you Sporting housekeepers, also had a big balcony and did I mention the view!
Would absolutely recommend to stay here.... if they get more customers they can spend a little more on the hotel.
Some reviewers complain about no pepper at table or someone didn't smile at them...all you need to fix that is look at the view!!!!

Room Tip: Think rooms on 4th floor would be best

There are precious little Russian-speaking tourists in the hotel. Hotel staff don't speak Russian, but very friendly and try to help you in any way. The same relates to people in the village.
Very beautifull view from the hotel rooms and hotel beach. Rooms are clean and comfortable. But there are rooms without balkonies and only with small window.
Sea is very clear and warm. There are very few people on the beach. Beach is almost blank on weekdays, but on weekend locals go there to rest.
Village sleeps at afternoon. All restaurants are closed at this time.
It's very easy to reach Sorrento using railway station not far from hotel.

Room Tip: Ask room with sea view and with a balkony.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as part of the Trafalgar Splendors of Italy tour in May 2014. I loved this hotel! Our room opened to view the sea and the view was stunning! There was an elevator from the hotel right to the beach, which was much nicer and more convenient that trying to find a way 200 meters down. The rooms were clean and well-kept. The only thing is the shower stall is very narrow, and the water doesn't stay hot for long. We ate breakfast and dinner in the dining room, which again has a stunning view of the sea and the island of Capri. Vico Equense is a great small town, and the location of the hotel makes exploring easy. I preferred staying here to staying in crowded and somewhat noisy Sorrento. If I ever make it back to this town, I will stay at this hotel again!

Room Tip: As for a sea view room; not all of their rooms face this way.

Living in Italy it takes a lot to impress me with a stunning view but this hotel not only has that but is a superb hotel too! We went with two other couples, Italian friends of ours and had a great time.

The hotel is on five floors yet the top floor is level with the road. The view from our room, and every room as far as I could tell, takes in the island of Capri, Naples, Pompei and Mount Vesuvius. Not only that but it has its own private beach with bar which is reached by lift going down 90m through soild rock from the hotel.

The rooms were beautiful and the service was second to none. It's an ideal place to stay when visiting Pompei and Sorrento, as we did. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Some rooms have bigger terraces, ours just had a balcony, but what a balcony!

The hotel is located on a cliff and most of the rooms looked out to the sea. We had wonderful view from our room! The room was clean but not much amenities. Bed was comfortable.
Breakfast was ok but coffee was so cold. Service could be further improved. We asked for pepper and additional food but the guy never showed up again.
It was a short walking distance from the village centre but the centre was kinda of quiet.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview room
