The views out of the rooms are absolutely breath taking, we have never experienced anything like it before. The room itself is very small - we had one without a balcony. As a previous traveller stated, the location is very nice, much closer to the town than some of the other hotels in the area. We were also able to travel to Positano (we did the Path of The Gods), Naples and Vesuvio (Pompei) from Vico Equense on our rental car, and even take the ferry to Capri (out of Sorrento). Private parking is available for extra cost (something like 12 euro/night). Some hotels in the area offer private parking to their guests for free (our friends were staying nearby), but do NOT expect to find parking in the streets. The location really made up for any other discomforts. The hotel hangs off a cliff with its own beach beneath. During our stay, the stairs down were locked off for whatever reason, so the only way down was the elevator. Normally this would not be a problem at all, however the elevator is only turned on from 9 am - 7 pm, meaning you cannot access the hotel's beach out of these hours. As most everywhere in Italy, loungers and umbrellas cost extra, and locals can get in if they pay (there were loads when we stayed there). There is a public beach down 240 steps about 15 minutes away by foot. We stayed in a few hotels during our trip to Italy, and Sporting was the priciest. Thank goodness for it's location and views, because otherwise the money would not be worth it.
