I came across this wonderful place by accident while searching online for a place to stay while visiting my son who is studying abroad this semester and had a week off. The concept of "Agriturismo" was foreign to me but given the choice of staying in a hotel in a major city or in a countryside villa, my wife and I decided to roll the dice...and what a wonderful decision that turned out to be!

We arrived on a Saturday in late October and were one of only three families on holiday at the time. After arriving (and yes the GPS got us there with no problem), we were greeted by Massi who made us feel very welcome and we were always treated like family. Even though this is the low season, all of the amenities and events went on as planned.

His staff is very attentive and always looking to help in any way they can. My wife, son, and I really appreciated the hospitality and warmth of Massi and his family. They always made sure everything was OK and if they could help in any way.

The planned events were great. These included a welcoming social event upon arrival as well as pizza and pasta nights during the week. These were great opportunities to socialize with the other families as well as with Massi's family and staff. There is something fabulous to be said about having some great (homemade) wine with some fine foods and sharing conversations with these great people, all while enjoying the Tuscan evenings.

Also, if you look at a map of the Tuscany area, by staying here you are not far away from the major tourist areas. You are only a short drive away from Volterra and San Gimignano, and about an hour or less away from Sienna, Florence, and Pisa. Beautiful!

Departing was bitter-sweet but we are so happy to have discovered this gem in the Tuscan hills and are already thinking about revisiting again, this time with my whole family.

Thank you Massi!

I chose this tuscany agriturismo based entirely on TripAdvisor reviews, and so I was not surprised that it was as good as everyone had indicated.

The first day is a little difficult, as you have to find the farmhouse in the Tuscan countryside, with poorly marked, small, winding roads, some of which do not exist anymore (as they get washed out with some frequency). However, after a few wrong turns, we ended up at Agriturismo Diacceroni.

Maybe it is different in the summer season, but there was nobody expecting us in the registration office, so we asked some of the other families there what to expect - and called Massimilliano, and soon a staff member showed up to hand us our keys, and give one of the other families a horseback riding lesson.

All of the family-oriented things were great -- there were a few larger families of children out and about at all times, playing soccer, table soccer, and ping pong. The children that had been there a few days didn't seem to mind my younger son following them around, feeding the animals, wandering through the mud, and running about on the playground.

The family dinners were the best. After a day of hiking around Tuscan hill towns, sitting back with a glass (or two) of wine, and helping the children make pizza or pasta, while talking with our new European friends was great.

And if you are American, you will get lots of attention - because they don't get too many Americans in the Tuscan agriturismo here, mostly other Europeans who have pretty good English.

The location is also perfect, as you are about 45 minutes away from San Gimignano and Volterra, and a good hour away from Pisa, Siena, and Florence.

We stayed at Diacceroni for 8 nights in early September. The usual changeover day is Saturday, so we stayed in the other house a couple of miles away for the first two nights. The apartment was very spacious and bigger than we expected with a double bed in each of the two bedrooms, bathroom, and a roomy and fully equipped kitchen/living area (no oven, just a hob). They provided a large travel cot for our two year old daughter.
We flew into Bologna airport and it was a straightforward journey less than 2.5 hours to Diacceroni. We arrived just as the Thursday party was getting going, so we were invited to stay for dinner and were made to feel very welcome by Barbara, Massimiliano and the team (even though the first party guests normally go to is on the Saturday, usual arrival day). The food was great and there was plenty of it! You can also sample and buy homemade wine, olive oil, honey and delicious limoncello!
We enjoyed Panaceracci as the pool is lovely with amazing views and there's a small play area, but for us, the main house had much more facilities, was livlier, and generally better suited to families.
The apartment (no.2) was even bigger at the main house! Massimiliano showed us round and offered us a choice of places to stay, and we chose this one as it was really close to the pool and climbing frame/slide/swing! We felt this locatuon was ideal as some of the other apartments were very close together, but we had lots of private space to ourselves and a lovely outdoor seating area including loungers!
All the kids staying there loved the animals- ponies, geese, pigs and a dog! The ponies roam around the farm freely which caused great excitement whenever they were spotted! A short pony ride in the arena is also included in your stay which is nice, and you can pay for additional rides for adults/children.
A couple of tips for your stay- following other reviews, I brought my own pillow and was really pleased I did as they were very soft/bit lumpy. I also got badly bitten by mosquitos so bring spray/deterrebts and clise the mozzie screen door in the apartment to help prevent them getting in!
The pool is simply stunning with a beautiful river view behind it, very relaxing. Lots of space every day despite apartments being full, and an ideal shallow end for toddlers to splash around in. It's not heated however, and felt a little chilly on some of the cloudier days so a swimsuit that keeps your child warm as well might be useful. When it was sunny however, it was glorious!
As others have said, it's ideally located for day trips and within an hour of Volterra, Siena and San G. The little shop in the village is great for essentials, fresh bread and pastries- but go early before it sells out! They're very friendly and cut fresh bread up and gave it to our daughter when we visited!
Diacceroni is great if you want to relax and get away from it all, whilst still enjoying a few day trips close by should you feel the need for a change of scene! Massimiliano will provide anything you might need and is always smiling and helpful! Finally, having researched many places in Tuscany, this was far and away the best value for money, given the spacious apartments and the inclusion of 3 evening meals.
Give it a go- you won't be disappointed!

We stayed at Diacceroni from 07th of August 2013 till 15th of August 2013. This place is ideal for couples, friends and especially for families with kids. The farm has a lot of pets, which very interesting for kids. The hill with main house offers amazing views. You can take free of charge bike to explore the area. There is panoramic swimming pool. Our apartments were surprisingly large for Italy. Living room and a kitchen equipped with everything you need. In the day of arrival wellcome party is arranged with live music. During the week also two parties: pizza and pasta. Parties are great idea! If you can see the map, is it very easy to get by car Volterra, Florence, Pisa, Viaregio, Siena, San Gamigliano. We reached even Saturnia terme. And , of cause, outlet with shopping near Florence. One word that describes our stay in Diacceroni - comfort. Many many thank to Massimo and his team. It was very nice to feel care of him all the time. We are ready to return in Diacceroni again.

Stayed at Agriturismo Pannieracci from 7th Aug 2013 to 16th Aug 2013 absolutely brilliant the kids spent most of the time in the pool, the whole area is surrounded by the rolling Tuscan hills and is overlooked by Volterra high up on the mountain top. Massi and his team made us all very welcome and worked tirelessly particularly on the Party nights to ensure that everybody was well fed and entertained all night long. Idea spot for touring Tuscany as most places are within 60 to 90 minutes Visited Florence, Lucca, Pisa as well as San Gimignano and Volterra One complaint it all ended too soon, look forward to going back as can be assured of having a wonderful time

We stayed at the Agriturismo Panieracci about a 10 minute drive from the main house, Diacceroni. The accommodation is marvellous with large comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen dining area with a comfortable pull out sofa bed. There was a powerful shower in the bathroom and plenty of towels. The pool area was lovely, a gorgeous infinity pool with plenty of sun beds and parasols and sweeping views over the Tuscan countryside. Much of the time we would have the whole pool to ourselves. Perfect! The party nights at Diacerroni were great fun and our children (aged 6 and 5) thoroughly enjoyed making pizza and pasta and mixing with all the children and playing on the bouncy castle. It was lovely to have the opportunity to meet other people, to try the Diacerroni wine (just 5 euros a bottle!), the limoncello and to have cooking demonstrations of lovely pasta dishes. The owners were very helpful, regularly came round to check that we had everything we needed and were very quick to supply anything missing, we needed more mugs for example and the day after we asked a box of mugs appeared by our front door. There are small shops nearby to buy essentials and Pisa, Volterra, Florence and San Gimignano are all a short drive away.
This was a wonderful holiday with the perfect mix of playing and relaxing by the pool and wandering around magnificent medieval walled cities eating delicious food and trying the best ice cream ever. I cant recommend this agriturismo highly enough, a superb holiday.

Room Tip: We had a 2 bedroom apartment for 6 people, the children slept on a very comfortable sofa bed and the...
