“What a fantastic way to experience Tuscany”

In July, we spent 9 wonderful days at Cerbaiolina. The weather was amazing - perfect swimming weather with the gentlest of breezes but not too hot for exploring the area during the day. The pool was cleaned every day and was always pristine. Good sized pool. I always prefer to swim not plunge! We cooked most nights. Couldn't resist trying some of the food from the delis and supermarket. Besides why leave perfection - drinking wine and enjoying a simple home-cooked meal while soaking up those amazing views and the weather!!! We never got cold. You do need a car and Sat Nav. I can't imagine trying to drive around Tuscany without a Sat Nav. The road into Cerbaiolina is a nail-biter the first time but you soon get used to it. Lots of books to read if you can't bear to leave the villa. Wifi wasn't good though which made it difficult to research places to visit. I could only get very average reception by sitting on front steps of owner's house. Wasn't a huge deal though as many cafes/restaurants have free wifi. If you have a chance, go visit Montepulciano. What an exquisite town! Loved Volterra too especially the Enoteca near the piazza. A very passionate man about his wines plus great wifi. All in all - a great experience. Thank you Brian and Christina.

“Perfect Tuscan retreat”

I can't imagine there is a more perfect getaway cottage than this one. We came on our honeymoon and it suited us perfectly for a relaxed time with the opportunity to reach some of the tourist spots in the area. The views from the patio table are of stunning Tuscan countryside, which the photos do not do justice. Sitting by the pool no cars or any other unnatural sounds can be heard.

The location is perfect. Volterra is about 10 minutes up the road and a great place to go for a meal, a coffee or an ice cream. Siena is only around 1 1/2 hours and Florence 2 hours up the road. A car is essential to get down the hill to the house. Be sure either to bring a sat nav or street view the turn off as it come quite suddenly just round a bend.

About 5 minutes away there is a supermarket that sells amazing fresh food that can be cooked in the well kitted out kitchen.

The house adjoins the owners house, separated by a lean-to, and the owner, Christina is always on hand but not at all intrusive. The property felt very private and peaceful.

There is a nice, clean, wet room bathroom with a good shower. There is a also a VCR/ DVD player for evenings in.

There are a lot of insects flying around in the garden, and be sure to bring bug spray or you will get bitten in the evenings. Internet is available, but the signal strength is poor in the cottage itself. It can be accessed just outside the property nearer the owner's house.

Overall the stay was amazing, and after days out in Siena and the Tuscan countryside Cerbaiolina was an wonderful place to return, eat good food, drink wine and admire an incredible view. We would highly recommend the property.

Having your own swimming pool and terrace is fantastic ,the owners do not bother you but if you need any thing nothing is too much trouble. The apartment is clean with beautiful views of the Tuscan Hills looking across to the City of Volterra, which is steeped in history. It is a great place to be based to visit Pisa,Florence and the coast There is an abundance of fantastic food and drink available locally, especially the wines. You will definatley need a hire car and lots of bug spray in the summer months.

“Lovely clean apartment in a beautiful location”

Tuscany is beautiful and this was made better by the lovely stylish apartment and pool with views across the valley. We were only there for a few days, but I would definitely visit again and stay longer. Volterra, the nearest town, is gorgeous and when I visit again, I will definitely take day trips to Siena and Florence. You do need a rental car for this location, but it's a nice easy drive from the airport. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

Amazing. Need a car though. Secluded retreat but easily accessible to all the regions attractions, shops etc. generous accommodation, perfect for summer with the private pool and courtyard with the most spectacular views. Owner close by but left you completely alone. Cooking facilities adequate. Bed firm, bathroom good size. Stunning and perfect for couple. Recommend ++. Only downside, wifi advertised but only available if you sat outside the owners front door. Very frustrating if you needed to work or get travel information.

“Perfecto!!!”
Reviewed 15 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

A gem. This property was perfect for our holiday and the plans we hoped to realise owing to its situation within easy reach of Volterra, Pisa, San Gimignano, Florence and Chianti.
Facilities in the apartment are adequate and in good condition. The bedroom is spacious and well laid out. Bathroom/wetroom ideal. Patio and pool are fantastic and the views from both are stunning. Whilst the drive in to the apartment gave us some difficulties owing to road closures and a later than expected arrival, Brian and Christina were perfect hosts in assisting us by telephone in guiding us in. Brian provided us with some provisions due to our late arrival and having missed shops and restaurants as a result and we were extremely grateful to him for doing so. The seclusion the apartment offers cannot be overstated and even allowing for the proximity of the owners' residence so close, the privacy they afford guests is excellent, whilst they are on hand should you need them. All in all this was one of our most enjoyable and memorable holidays and the apartment and the surroundings were a huge part of that.

“Beautiful, peaceful, idyllic”
Reviewed 16 October 2012 for a stay in September 2012

We spent a week at this amazing apartment and loved every minute. The views are spectacular and it was fantastic to have our own pool for the week. The apartment has been nicely kitted out and is very comfortable. It has a decent kitchen which was great as i did a lot of cooking, inspired by the fantastic regional produce. A car is a must as it is quite a rural location. There are some great restaurants nearby in Volterra and loads to see and do in the surrounding area with Siena, Florencea and San Gimignano all reachable by car.
Brian was very friendly and helpful in suggesting local places to eat and things to do. We went on some walks in the countryside keeping an eye for wild boar, but didnt see any - much to our disappointment. We hope to return next year to what is a truly idyllic tuscan retreat.
