Back from two weeks with a group of twelve...we had formal tours in Rome and Florence. But our favorite tour by far was Annie's tour of Volterra. (We skipped San Gimingnano and drove just a bit further to Volterra...a great move.) Volterra is a beutiful hilltop town that, as Annie explained so well and with passion, was an important city way back when. She walked us through town with so many stories of historical significance in a way which captured us all. She kept the pace slow to accommodate some older folk. The tour was topped of by a visit to a local alabaster carver, who gave us a demo - very interesting. Thanks, Annie, for a great day!

Our group of 15 had the most amazing tour with Annie and Tuscan Tours. This service was recommended by our B&B host and ended up being a major highlight of our trip.

Our tour included:
- Comfortable bus/van rides to and from our B&B
- A walking tour of Volterra
- Lunch and a wine tour of an excellent local winery
- A brief tour of San Gimignano and time to explore the city
- Tons of interesting history of Italy and the Etruscan civilization
- Great recommendations of other things to do while we were in the area

Annie was an amazing guide who is super passionate about what she does. She makes history fun and interesting (even on cold mornings when your whole group *may or may not* be totally hungover). She arranged an amazing luxury bus and a wonderful driver (Paolo) to safely ferry us from place to place. She also set up an amazing winery visit where we enjoyed a beautiful lunch, a tasty selection of wine, olive oil and a tour of a grape-to-bottle wine operation.

Tuscan Tours also offers a full day of wine tours if that is your group's preference. The owners are fluent in English and Italian and are super easy to communicate with from afar.

I highly recommend making this a part of your Tuscan adventure!

Annie was a guide extraordinaire!
She gave us the perfect introduction to Volterra. 3 hours went by so fast.
We loved her stories and all the "off the beaten track" places she showed us.
Highly recommend her!!

I went on Annie Adair's walking tour of Volterra Italy. I found the tour to be very informative and enjoyable. If you go to Volterra,I would sign up for her tour,I cant quite see being in Voltera without taking Annie's tour. Annie is very informative and passionate about the history of Volterra. When coming to a place like Tuscany and it's small towns, taking a tour with a knowledgeable guide is important to heightening your knowledge and thus enjoyment of the town. This is why I enjoy very much Annie Adair's tour. I also did a wine tatsting with Annie Adair's husband Francisco, and that was very enjoyable as well and I learned a lot,I will be writting a seperate review of his wine tatsting.

Our first day was a Montalcino tour with the focus on wine, wine and food and wine with Francesco. We started with an eye-opening tour of the estate of La Fiorita. We met with the head agronomist, the assistant wine maker and learned about the entire wine making process. They were just bringing in some of the 2015 harvest and we were able to watch the early stages of the fruit-to-wine process. We tasted some young and more mature wines.
I got the feeling that Francesco could have done the tours himself, as he seemed to guide the wine makers through their process, making the tour more relevant for us.

Then we stopped for lunch at a fabulous restaurant in Montalcino, Boccon di Vino, where we had the La Fiorita wines paired with some great food.
After lunch we headed to a more "traditional" vineyard, Biondi-Santi’s Il Greppo. A most beautiful estate with history spilling out everywhere. More wine tasting of great wines and that ended our day of touring in Montalcino.

The next day we met Annie in Volterra, an ancient and picturesque Tuscan hill town. She took us through the winding streets of the town showing us the ancient history and origins of the town, as well as Volterra's position in the 1300 -1500's and some great history from as current as WWII. We saw an artisan maker of alabaster art and got to watch the process in action. Annie was incredibly knowledgeable and very engaging. We had a great day in Volterra, even after she left
