“Romantic views of Tuscan hills”
Reviewed 8 April 2012

We arrived and decided we had to stay 2 nights after our constant travelling. Volterra is a very intriguing hill top town and Villa Rioddi a very charming house and garden property.
We stayed in a terrace room with a wonderful view accompanied nicely at sunset with wine and olives.
The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgable. If we had more time it would have been great to tour more of the region from here. They recommended a great restaurant in town that served local dishes.
The breakfast selection was very good. It was only a short walk up the hill to the town - which we chose to walk instead of driving up in our car.

We, a family of 4, have been here on summerholiday. Very nice owners, always friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. You need a car to visit all major towns in tuscany. Volterrra is very close and there are a lot of good restaurants. Highly recommended !

A really nice place, with great views and great staff. Very clean and comfortable. We had one of the terrace rooms, where we could sit just outside our room, with a bottle of wine, and watch the sun set over the Tuscan hills. It was sublime.

Staff went the extra mile. Friendly and genuine. They really 'lifted' our stay good.

A good, central spot for touring the area by car. I would only comment that to eat in the local town, you really need to go by car for the couple of miles into Volterra. Do Not let that put you off as it is a very minor price for the overall peacefulness, views, tranquility and holiday experience.

Room Tip: One of the three rooms on the terrace for 'sundowners'

My wife and I stayed here recently, what a perfect place. Beautiful location, lovely building, helpful staff, and great value. The best place we stayed in all in all in our visit to Tuscany, made a change not to have to pay through the nose either! Would definitely recommend it!

I loved this villa. Beautiful scenery surrounding the villa. Volterra is an old walled town with lots to explore. Lucca will help you with anything you need, he even found me another place to stay for a night when the distance was too far to drive in one day.
The rooms were clean and roomy. Nothing fancy but just what I needed and wanted.
Be prepared to drive the opitome (sp?)of Italian roads to get to anywhere east!!! I was terrified my first day but quickly adjusted to the Italian style of driving. It was fun and easy once you understood the rules!!!!!
A lot of my fellow guests spent time on the coast and my understanding is that the roads west are much easier to drive!!
The breakfast was amazing!! I felt cared for by the ladies of the villa! The spread was fantastic, fresh bread, bruschetta, made with their own olive oil, local meats and cheeses. The pastries looked amazing. The view from the terrace, where breakfast was served, was spectacular. I could have just hung out there all day!!
I visited Chiani, Montalcino, Montepulciano and Orvieto while staying there (hence the overnight away from the villa).
I highly recommend this villa if you are exploring the western area of Tuscany.
