“Stayed in the Hotels Apts Casa Regina”
Reviewed 30 August 2007

I stayed in the apartments belonging to the hotel called 'Casa Regina' on via Annunciata for one month. The apartment itself was fine all the basics kitchenette, eating, area, balcony. There were 2 bathrooms, in one the shower had no shower curtain so we couldn't use it because when you turn it on the water drenches the whole bathroom-we explained this to the hotel but nothing was done, so we had to use the shower in the bath which forced you to sit down. Our electricity was cut off one evening and we went to the hotel to ask them to find out about the problem the receptionist(a man-don't remember his name) told us he would send someone at 10pm-the person never came. We were left without electricity for the night and we didn't get someone to the apartment until we went to the hotel AGAIN! Apart from this everything was fine but being young myself I wouldn't recommend this place to young people as it is in a residential area and they constantly complain about noise-perhaps thats why our elecricity was cut off! :0) But it is an exellent location at a great price and Roberta in reception is great!

Premium location, beautiful lakeside view and super-friendly staff- on the plus side. On the minus side: unpersonal rooms, careless housekeeping (floor wasn't very clean, shower so-so), no cappuccino for breakfast but stuff that comes out of a machine, orange juice made with those yucky artificial powders etc.
The twin beds are very narrow, both me and my friend almost fell out of them during the night. Air condition didn't work - Italian hotels sometimes switch off A/C after September 1, regardless of the actual weather...
Late check-out on Sunday morning was no problem, they were very nice and we could keep the room till 1 pm.
All in all, they should re-assess themselves to 3-star.

The hotel is in an excellent location on the waterfront. The rooms are fairly standard, clean but dour in decor and the shower cubicle tiny - though the shower itself is powerful. Breakfast was standard fare in a dingy dining room. We had problems paying on checkout - we had 3 cards rejected (because the machine appeared faulty) and had to pay cash. However, when we returned home and checked our credit card statement online found that the hotel had charged £312 3 days prior to our arrival - we are currently awaiting a refund. We believe this may be a practice operated by some hotels in case of non-payment of room services, but feel the hotel have a responsibility to advise their guests of this practice.

We chose this hotel because we wanted a four star hotel on Lake Garda where we could also daytrip to other destinations and needed access to the railway. Desenzano is really the only place on the lake where you can do this. We managed day trips to Venice, Verona, Milan and Bonzano(excellent ice man exhibition)as well as the resorts on the Lake. Desenzano station is an uphill fifteen minute walk from the lake front, a bus goes from outside the hotel. This is NOT a four star hotel but a reasonable three star with a very pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast is pretty dismal with hot drinks out of a machine. If you choose Desanzano it is probably as good a hotel as any in the town. Al Fattore Ristorante in Via Roma is recommended for meals.

We chose this hotel for its position close to the ferry terminal. The room was pleasant (superior lake view) with a comfortable bed and extra pillows on request and clean shower room. Air con made it a good temperature, double-glazing made it quiet. A fridge was useful and the reception desk were helpful with requests for ice. We booked a room on-line with 2 rates quoted with and without breakfast and it was here we ran into problems... A note on the desk asked for advance payment with a card which we did; opting to take breakfast. The next morning we found a very un-exciting breakfast with no fruit at all (and our request for fruit was refused) My husband for medical reasons takes a light breakfast. We ecided not to partake and went to reception to ask for the non-breakfast rate and our card to be refunded. We were told "this was not possible in Italy as so many taxes were added as soon as it went into the bank!!" Breakfast was 16 euros for 2 and charged for 4 nights. We were told to write a letter to managemnt and they would see what they could do. "I should know in 10 days" No reply and no refund, Advice- take the rate without breakfast and pay for any you dotake afterwards if you decide it is for you. Alice on reception was delightful and most helpful.
