We have just returned from a 14 day holiday at this hotel booked through Crystal Lakes, I was confident that this hotel would be good after reading previous reviews and we were not dissapointed. The hotel is spotless, contemporary and in a great location, The pool area is lovely, one small gripe, the pool rules state that ball games are not allowed a couple of times during our stay there were some kids taking over the pool with their ball games and were disrupting others I did mention it to the front desk, bit I think ultimately they need to keep more of an eye on what's going on in the pool area. This was the only annoyance during our stay so can't complain.
The breakfast was great and they make a lovely fruit salad which included peaches and plums really yummy!!
Whilst in Desenzano we visited Verona, Venice, Milan all reached by train. it is well worth trying the Verona opera great experience but don't believe what they say about getting there early to choose your seat on the unreserved stone seats. When we arrived you were shepherded to where they wanted you to sit so probably worth waiting until nearer the start time to go in as when we were there it was like a sauna very uncomfortable and a very late finish at 0110am, but worth it!
We loved Hotel Nazional and would definitly return , very sad to leave!

Room Tip: As there three of us we had a superior room overlooking the pool , so our room was quiet.

The hotel located 5 mins walk from the lake provides an excellent base for all excursions around southern Lake Garda. The welcome received by staff is excellent particularly the manager who takes a hands on approach. The rooms are spacious and modern and better than many other 3 stars equivalents. The pool is a good size and overlooked by seating areas close to the hotel bar. The food in the hotel was unusually reasonably priced. Parking is available on site in an underground garage. Overall this hotel is a great place to relax near to the lake and i would wholeheartedly recommend it.

Just returned from 5 nights here as a friend was getting married at stunning Lonato Castle. I can only reiterate what other reviewers have said: lovely rooms (ours was a ground floor room overlooking the pool), stylish and modern and worthy of a 4 star rating. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating whatever your request. We loved the fact that it is close to the town (5-10 minutes walk) where there is lots to see and lots of bars and restaurants) but not near the noise of the town. We flew to Verona and a 10 minutes straightforward shuttle bus from the airport to Verona and then a 25 minute train ride to Desenzano and 5-10 minute walk from the station (downhill!) meant that it only takes around an hour from landing at the airport to enjoying the swimming pool!

Only comment would be that wifi is generally not free (although as part of the wedding party we were given free wifi): in a hotel of this standard I would expect complimentary wifi.

That aside, I certainly hope to make a return visit in the not too distant future and would not hesitate to recomment this hotel.

Standart 3 star italian. Some rooms are noisy due of busy streets, others are quiet and even have a lake view.
Service is good but sometimes wanted more. Do not hesitate to ask staff for service you want :)

Just back from a week at the Nazionale in Desenzano. Fabulous !!!!! Although hotelis only 3 star it should be 4star + Took the trip with Thomsons Lakes --far better than arranging it myself.
Desenzano is beautiful especially the area around the old harbour.
