Stayed as part of a great rail journey group, the evening food was very good, but unless you liked plastic ham and tasteless plastic cheese every and I mean every morning I would eat out for breakfast, there is a nice little cafe one minutes walk away at the railway station that serves good breakfasts, the rooms are large, good beds and all have balconies but are not of a 4 star standard, the area is fantastic for tourists.

Room Tip: Don't bother with the breakfasts

Stayed there August 14 for 7 Nights , we arrived Saturday evening , it was raining, the staff at the hotel arrived at Desenzano station with umbrella's , so we wouldn't get wet , I thought that they must cared about there guest, how right I was, The reception staff espically the young women, where ever I wanted to go , she had the timetable on the computer, either by bus or ferry or train I marked her down as excellent. The hotel room was good large with bathroom and south facing balcony .Breakfast was the same each day , meat, cheese, cereals etc . Dinner was cooked to a standard . the hotel was about 15 minutes from the lake , but all uphill on the way back, but you can get the local bus.
The hotel was only 2 minutes from the stationand bus stop. don't forget to buy your bus tickets from inside the station kiosk. Must == Take the bus or ferry to Sirmione, then on another day take the ferry to Garda and Walk to Bardolino 1 hour then ferry back. a trip to Malcesine on another day or Riva there so many options fom Desenzano don't forget your passport for the ferry if you are over 60 you get a reduction. Not forgetting the train to either Verona or Venice. would I come back to Lake Garda yes , but I would stay in Sirimone, would I recommend the hotel Desenzano I stayed in the answer is yes

Rooms were OK. Pool was nice. Food in the evening was odd (strange things served together, particularly if you have the buffet). Breakfasts were very limited. Apparently you could pay extra for eggs (3 euros) but we were not offered this. Nice rooftop garden, which we sat on at night and enjoyed the view. But even though all of us (lots of us) took our coffee cups and glasses back down in the lift to the bar, to save them the bother, the staff didn't even look up or say thank you. Apart from the owner, I found most of the staff miserable.

If there for a few days you can buy a bottle of wine or bottle of water with your evening meal and can write your room number on the label and finish it the next night.

Air conditioning does absolutely nothing. Even standing under it, not even a draft. I was sooooooooooooo hot that I couldn't sleep at all.

Stayed at Hotel Desenzano on a Great Rail Journey trip. The Hotel itself is fine and hard to fault. The walk back from the town does not get easier after a week. No too impessed with the food, if you do not like breakfast on day 1, unlucky, its the same every day. The evening meals were very bland an un-Italian. Desenzano is brilliant and a great base for sightseeing on the lake by ferry, or by train to Milan, Verona & Venice.

We came to this hotel through Great Rail Journeys. It is a clean and newly refurbished family run hotel. The bedrooms were very spacious, with a balcony and air conditioning and free safe. The hotel reception and dining rooms were spotless with plenty of areas to sit. The swimming pool was great after a day in the glorious sun and again there were places to sit around the pool and also some sun loungers. The food was exactly what you would expect from an Italian Hotel. There was a good variery at breakfast every day, although there was no vaiation from day to day. There wa s choice for your evening meal, starter and sweet, so most people would find the food good. We had a brillient stay at the Hotel and Lake Garda and loved every minute of it. The holiday was made especially good because of the people we met on the trip with Great Rail Journeys. We only have one very small gripe and that is that there was no tea making facility in the room.
We would not hesitate in recommending this hotel or area for a great holiday.

Part of a train holiday with Travelspere. The Hotel is adjacent to station and so is a 10-15 minute walk to the lakeside.
The Hotel has been refurbished and presents a good image. Rooms are air conditioned and comfortable. They will push two single beds together so that you can enjoy a 6ft double. Every room has a balcony and in addition there are two additional terraces where you can sit out. The pool is well maintained and there are sun loungers available. Food was good and as is typical in most Italian Hotels there is a breakfast room and a main Dining Room. Whilst in the room we did not experience any noise from the railway.
We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it.

My wife and I stayed a week at the Hotel Desenzano with Page & Moy. We found the standard of cleanliness superb. Staff were so friendly and helpful and catered for our every whim. The signora who owns this family run hotel was always on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly for the guests.
Breakfast was what you would expect in a typical Italian 4 star hotel.
The nights we had dinner, as part of our Page & Moy package, consisted of good quality Italian food, well cooked and presented. Bar prices and Wine list prices were very reasonable.
The hotel is two minutes from the train station and we went by train to Venice for the day which involved only a 90 minute train journey. A nice way to see Venice on a day trip.
The hotel is a good base to explore the Lake Garda area and is reasonably close to Verona for opera fans.
A big thank you to the staff for making our visit to Desenzano and Lake Garda so memorable.
